“Let her go!”
“The question is, why are you so interested in a whore’s daughter?”
“She’s a civilian.”
“Not when she comes creeping into our club. You sent her to spy on us.”
Tank snorted. “Our prez seems convinced you sent her to us.”
“Cute. I’ve never seen this bitch before, which means you think you can seed her into our club like some fucking weed. Too bad she’s too stupid to live and opened her big mouth the second she came through those gates.”
“I’m sorry, Tank,” Bell said.
“Shut the fuck up,” said a man beside her.
Tank wanted to gut him. Maybe he’d get a chance to later.
“She came looking for her mother, thought she’d worked her way into our club, but we never had plans of letting that old bitch move in. She was entertainment for the boys, nothing more.”
“Am I supposed to care?”
“You’re here, aren’t you? What I don’t understand is why you’d risk your balls coming here for her kid. Unless she has secrets.”
“The only secrets she’d have is whatever you told her to find out when you sent her creeping into our club. Sad you have to use little girls to get your intel,” Tank said.
“She’s not on our payroll. We have no beef with you. And we sure as hell don’t need to use pussy to get information.”
“That’s right, you send your boys to town without theircuts to try and throw us off. Only we’re always one step ahead of you.”
“Big words for a man who’s not getting out of here alive unless I allow it. Where’s Lord now? Hiding behind his walls like a little bitch?”
“He’s brought you down twice already.”
“Then we’re like the phoenix, always rising from the ashes.”
Tank smiled. “Lord likes the example of the cockroach better.”
The prez growled and snapped his fingers in the air. Bikes began to ride around him, revving their engines. Shit, he was fucked.
Bell looked scared, but maybe they wouldn’t hurt her if they didn’t know how important she was to him.
He held on to that belief until he saw the one prospect he didn’t want to see and he knew it was all over. The piece of shit whispered to his prez, then disappeared into the crowd.
The man was smiling. An evil look if he ever saw one.
“Now it all makes sense. Really fucking stupid to send your own woman to do your dirty work. Dangerous games you like to play.”
“She’s nothing to me,” Tank said, maybe too quickly. “A quick fuck like her mother.”
“You sure about that?” He stepped closer to Bell, and Tank’s heart began to race. He’d never felt so weak and impotent in his life. The prez ran his fingers through her long blonde hair. She tried to lean away from him, but her movements were limited with her arms tied.
“We just want to be sure you’re not sending moles into our club,” Tank said.
“No, no that’s not it.” He walked around her chair, staring at Bell. Everyone seemed to be quiet, like a hush had fallen overthe Skull Nation. He could hear his blood rushing through his veins. No way would he be able to stand there while they hurt his woman. He’d go out in a blaze of glory before he let that happen. He was a big boy and could take a lot of lead before he went down. But would it be enough to save her?
****
Bell watched Tank standing there in a crowd of his enemies. What was he thinking? She’d come here to try to get information for Lord and the Straight to Hell MC so they’d trust her, accept her. But before she could take one picture or get close enough to do anything worthwhile, a gun cocked behind her head.
