Instead of calming me down, he lets go of my hand and wraps his arms around me. There isn’t a part of our bodies that aren’t touching. His mouth crashes into mine, and he’s kissing me like I’ve never been kissed before. Sweet and demanding all at the time same time. His tongue pushes between my lips, and I lean into him even more, as it dances around my own.
Somewhere behind a throat clears, and I notice the sound of a television has gotten louder. “Well, well. What do we have here?”
I pull away from Adrian so quickly I almost bite his tongue, and I fall onto my brother standing behind me. “What the fuck, Jay?”
“Was I interrupting something?” He laughs. My brother is a complete asshole. So much for him being asleep.
Standing up, I glare at him. “As a matter of fact, you were, jerk.”
Adrian, shockingly doesn’t freak out the way I did. He straightens his shirt, and adjusts his pants. My eyes flicker down to the zipper and oh my God. It’s good to know he’s as interested in me as I am in him. But damn it, did Jay really have to open the door.
Adrian’s eyebrows rise waiting for me to fill him in on who the random guy in my apartment is. “Adrian,” I sigh. “This is my brother, who has horrible timing by the way, Jay. Jay, this is Adrian.”
Adrian stretches his arm, hand out to shake Jay’s. “It’s nice to meet you. I’ve heard a lot about you.”
Jay, shakes the hand offered to him, and turns to me. “Funny, I haven’t heard anything about you.”
Rolling my eyes, I push Jay further inside the apartment. “I’ll be inside in just a few minutes.” Then, I shut the door in his face, barring him from destroying this night any further.
“Sorry about that,” I lean against the door, and keep my eyes on the pavement below my feet. “He’s crashing at my place for a few nights. I thought he might be asleep by now.”
He places his thumb on my chin, and lifts my face up until our eyes meet. “It’s okay,” he whispers. “It’s not exactly my finest moment to be meeting family, but it wasn’t too humiliating.”
“Speak for yourself,” I mutter.
“Seriously, don’t worry about it,” he grins. “If it’s okay, I’d like to do it again.”
Does he mean the kiss or go on a date? I’m good with either option. Preferably both, though. I like being around him. He makes me feel safe.
Before I can offer up an answer, he kisses me on the cheek. His breath is on my ear, and I shiver. “I’ll see you tomorrow at work. Goodnight, Sophia.”
Without a backward glance he jogs toward the stairs. I lean over the railing and watch him the entire way down. Once he’s seated on his bike, he looks up and I give him a small wave.
Adrian will either be the best thing I need right now, or he’ll be a disaster waiting to explode. But I’ll take it. I’ll take anything he’s willing to offer me. Now, I need to pummel my brother for ruining the most amazing kiss I’ve ever had.
