His mouth twists. “Yeah.”

“And you—”

“I’ll be all right. Don’t worry.”

“I’m not worried,” I whisper.

“Could have fooled me.”

Pressing my lips together, I head toward the refectory, letting him shadow me. It’s a good place to look for Melissa. Because he’s right, I’m worried, and that won’t do.

Not at all.

“Well, here you go.” Jason stops at the door of the refectory. “Delivered safe and sound.”

“Want a cookie for it?”

He laughs, ducks his head. God, he’s cute. “I’m good.”

“No lunch for you?”

“Later. After the practice. I have energy bars and beef jerky.”

“Meat. Of course.”

He shrugs. “It’s a wolf thing.”

“I figured.”

He flicks a strand of my hair, then tucks it behind my ear, gazing down on me. “I can’t wait to see you wearing what I bought you. Especially the lacy bits.”

“Jax.” Heat suffuses my face. “You guys can’t keep doing this.”

“You’re wearing the lingerie Ashton bought you. Mine is better.”

“I’m sure it is.” But I can’t help but smile in the face of his boyish excitement. “Now go exercise.”

“You’ve seen me play, right?”

“I did.”

“I’m damn good.”

“You are.”Why deny it?

“I saw you cheering for me.”

“Jax…”

“I liked it.” His green eyes are warm with golds and blues. His crooked smile is gorgeous. Seductive. It could ruin me. “Our next game is in a week. Will you come? Cheer for me?”

I’m drowning in his eyes.God, he’s beautiful. “Sure. I…”

He leans in, captures my mouth in a searing hot kiss, his teeth nipping at my lower lip, one hand slipping around my waist to pull me toward him, against his chest as he deepens the kiss. His pecs are rock hard, his stomach like a board, and between his legs where he’s pressing me… he’s hardening quickly, the hard rod of his erection pressing into my stomach.

It lights me up, makes me want more.

All the fantasies, all the possibilities. All the sins.
