Tancy looked around and laughed. “Fair enough.”
“How do you feel about the Hay Adams Hotel?”
“Wow! Are you a secret millionaire?”
“No. But this is as good a place as any to spend some of that black ops money.”
“I didn’t know that was a thing.”
“Now you do,” he said confidently.
“Lucky me. You’re not only handsome and smart but apparently have a fat wallet.”
“I’m funny too.”
She took his hand and started walking toward the airport doors. “And you keep telling yourself that and pay no attention to the naysayers.”
“Wasn’t aware there were any.” He pulled her away from the stream of pedestrians and slid her satchel off her shoulder. “It’s raining hard, so make sure your jacket is buttoned.”
“Okay.” She kissed him on his cheek and then did as he asked. “How is this?”
“Good enough.” He tilted his head. “I have a lot of plans percolating and don’t want a cold to throw us off course.”
“Are they naked plans?” she asked hopefully.
“Some of them.” He tipped his chin toward the door. “Are you ready to make a run for it?”
“Yes.” She lifted her foot. “I wish I was wearing my Docs and not these slingbacks.”
“For once, I’m going to agree with you.” He took her hand and headed toward the door. “Next stop, a suite overlooking Lafayette Park.”
“Damn, fixing the government’s issues quietly must really pay well.”
“You have no idea,” he mumbled before heading toward the parking lot. And lucky for her, he planned to use his stash to make every one of her dreams come true.
An hour later, Teague stood in the middle of the beautiful suite while Tancy rolled from side to side on the large bed, giggling. The room was decorated within an inch of its life and featured more patterned fabric than he was used to. The woman sighing happily in a soft cloud of down had told him it was utter perfection and something she may replicate in her own small home. “Do you want to take a bath or order room service?”
Rolling her head over, she smiled. “I want to take a bath with you and then order room service.” She licked her lips. “You in a mountain of bubbles is a fantasy come to life.”
He strolled over to the bed and ran his hand through her silky hair. “I’ve got a fantasy of my own that I’m hoping you’ll be down for.”
“Oh, I’m down.” She rolled on her tummy and propped her chin in her hands. “Any details you care to share with me now?”
“I’ll save them for later.”
“Alright.” She raked her eyes over him slowly. “I’m patient.”
“Sure you are.” He lifted her into his arms and strode toward the bathroom. “Let the reunion begin.”
Fifteen minutes later, Teague leaned his head against the rim of a large tub. “I didn’t know taking a bath would be this much fun.” He studied a sudsy, sexy Tancy and vowed to update one of their bathrooms so they could make it a regular occurrence.
“Being naked always makes things more fun.”
“True.” He ran his hand slowly along her shapely calf. “Are you ready to tell me how the meeting went? Are you about to become a resident of the capital again?” Stealing himself for the answer, he breathed slowly. If she had to return to her old life, so be it. All he’d have to do was find a way to fit in.
“You ask the question with so much calm. Is it really not a big deal either way?”
“I support you one hundred percent. Do I have a preference about how I’d like to see it play out? Of course, I do.” He took one of her feet in his hand and started massaging it. “But if my only choice is to be a commuter couple, then we’ll deal with it.”
