I give her a shocked look. “He’s the best. He’s just had much better things to do.”

Parker laughs, her eyes shining as she looks down at my situation. “It’s not very professional for him to have his dick out in front of a client, though.”

“You’re right,” I say, feigning chagrin. “Almost as unprofessional as nailing a client in the back of your bookshop.” I make a tsking sound through my teeth and shake my head at her.

She laughs again and peeks around the edge of the bookshelf. “Fine, you win. We’re both terrible. Go clean up,” she says, pushing me towards the bathroom.

By the time I get cleaned up, Parker is straightening things behind the counter. She looks tired but happy. I set my truck keys on the counter.

“Use my truck until I get your Civic fixed, ok?”

“I can’t—” she argues, but I kiss her, pulling her against me.

“You can and you will,” I insist, kissing down her neck and giving her a soft bite. She shivers and giggles, pushing me away.

“Stop, you’re going to turn me on again.”

“Fine,” I sigh dejectedly as I step out from behind the counter, sliding the keys towards the register. “Pack an overnight bag and pick me up at the shop when you’re done tonight.”

“You just get to decide we’re having a sleepover? Don’t I get a say?” she teases.

“Hell no. I was robbed. I didn’t get to wake up to you this morning. You’re going to park that fine ass in my bed all night long so I can treat you right in the morning,” I say, wiggling my eyebrows at her.

“Bossy,” Parker says, grinning as she leans over the counter to kiss me goodbye. The way she’s leaning forward gives me a view of her cleavage that would probably kill a man with a weak heart. I groan, copping a quick feel as I take the offered kiss and grinning when she swats my hand.

It’s a quick walk to the auto shop and I stroll in, whistling and feeling lighter than air. Asher is his usual grumpy self as I pass his office door. He’s shuffling papers on his desk, scowling at the order forms.

“You’re late,” he says without looking up. “You get to work through lunch.”

I keep moving and call out over my shoulder, “Worth it.”
