She nods as we turn into the park parking lot, and the kids go crazy.
“There’s Uncle Griz and Aunt Monty!” Rose yells, pointing over toward the swings.
“Are you going to go say hi?” I ask, and she nods.
She loves all of her aunt and uncles, but it looks like Griz and Monty are the only ones here so far.
We unbuckle the kids and I grab the bag of supplies as the kids take off toward their cousins.
“Ready for family time?” I ask Gwen as I wrap my arm around her shoulders.
“Yep. I’m even more ready for tonight,” she whispers to me, and I squeeze her shoulders, grinning as we head over to the slides where the kids are busy running around.
I’m one lucky man. I don’t know how I got someone as perfect as Gwen, but I’ll thank my lucky stars everyday that I did. She’s the best thing that ever happened to me. She’s given me two beautiful children; something that feels like a miracle. She’s made my house a home and brought sunshine and happiness into my dull, bleak life.
I don’t know what my life would have been like if Gwen hadn’t applied to work for me, and luckily for me, I’ll never have to know.
I tug Gwen into my side, kissing the crown of her head as we join our family.
