“What the fuck do you think you’re doing?”

The little firecracker makes a second attempt to disarm me and I grab her wrist tighter.

Then she tries to run, but I catch her ankle.

“You think you’re going to leave me? Escape?”

Making a tsking sound I shake my head no as she kicks back at my arm.

“Not now. And after that little stunt. Not ever.”

I get to my feet and point the gun at her. “Get your ass dressed,” I command loudly.

“Get dressed?” Jenson damn near cries. “She was supposed to be mi—” The sentence comes to an abrupt halt before I hear him yell out in pain. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to know his wife kicked him, probably in the groin. Good for her. About time these two women took some of the power back from that piece of shit.

Once she’s dressed I have her stand in the closet while I do the same. Then I open the door, toss her over my shoulder and move toward the master bedroom. Not surprisingly the combination to the safe is Jenson’s birthday. What a dumb, egotistical prick.

Betting his computer password is the same, I flip up the clamshell laptop and type the date in when prompted.

In.

Looking through his browsing history I see what bank he uses…and proceed to make three transfers from his corporate account that are each more money than I’ve ever seen, but considering how big his company is they’ll barely make a blip. Not to mention they’re approved right away.

Too easy.

Sticking his gold, Bitcoin storage device, and some diamonds he has inside the heel of my boot I quickly make my way downstairs.

“You missed the party,” I announce, stepping over them.

“I swear I know you,” Jenson says, still trying to figure it out. But I’ve already given him enough clues. No more.

Now time to execute the final part of the plan…and the beginning of my new life, with his daughter.

Whether it sticks remains to be seen, but nothing could be worse than being here with him. I know it. And she surely knows it too.

Which is why I’m counting on her going with me…willingly.

She was a conquest to be had, a score to settle, revenge. But now, she’s so much more. In my mind, I’m saving her by getting her out of this terrible situation, but the reality is she’s the one who’s saving me from a lifetime of solitary misery, a feeling I never even knew existed before her.

Hell, I can do time and it doesn’t even shake me. Being alone is not hard for me, but being without her? Not a chance.

It doesn’t matter. Come hell or high water I have to make her see that this was meant to be, that we’re supposed to be together.

“It’s you, you son of a bitch,” Jenson calls out. “Jack fucking Jenson.”

“Took you long enough to remember your supposed best friend.”

“Why you piece of—”

Putting my boot down right next to his face he pulls up short on the name calling.

“You should be locked up,” he starts up again, spouting off.

“Out on good behavior…as you can clearly see.”

His rage is visible, a vein in his forehead straining so hard it looks like it’s going to pop.

“I know who did this and I will get you.”
