“No screaming,” he repeated once more, narrowing his eyes. “If you do, I won’t be afraid to tape your mouth shut.”

She believed him, nodding slowly. The last thing she wanted was to be unable to scream if she needed to.

He removed his hand from her mouth, but he still had her pinned against the wall with his other hand. She kept her eyes on him, waiting for him to say something.

“Now, my name is Ray, and you’re going to tell me what I want to know. Let’s start with your name.”

She gritted her teeth, hoping her immediate compliance would buy her some time. “Augusta.”

Augusta looked around the room quickly, wondering where she had set her mace. She frowned, seeing it was to the right of her on the TV stand. Why had she decided to take a bath again? What made her think that was a brilliant idea?

“You’re going to tell me what you saw, Augusta. I want every little detail of what happened at the slaughterhouse.” Ray gave her a smile, but it seemed forced.

Augusta nodded quickly while she slipped her free hand over and grabbed her mace. She curled her fingers around the weapon and rolled her finger over the trigger.

But as quick as she thought she was, he was quicker. Ray’s hand grabbed hers, twisting it slightly, forcing her hand to fall open. The mace tumbled to the floor, and he pulled her hands up, pinning them against the wall above her head.

He inhaled sharply, almost growling at her in frustration. She took a breath in, shocked at how he did that all with one hand, and his other still was free. She was terrified yet shocked by the amount of strength he had.

“I won’t be falling for that again.”

She swallowed once more, staring into his harsh eyes. He appeared irritated like this was a job for someone else.

Ray leaned closer, and Augusta tried to lean back. Then he sniffed her. She wasn’t sure how to take that and watched as his eyes studied her. She hated the fact she was caught in nothing but a towel.

She wet her lips before she tried to talk, hoping it sounded more courageous than she felt right now.

“Are you here to kill me?” Her voice came out shaking, and she hated it. She cursed at herself for not being able to sound unafraid.

Ray narrowed his eyes on her, leaning back slightly. “That entirely depends on you and what you’re going to share with me.”

“It depends on what I share with you?” she repeated, wanting to make sure she heard him right.

He nodded. “Yes, I got a lot of questions, and you’re going to answer them one way or another, little lady. So, let’s try to make this easy, shall we? Just cooperate, and everything will be just fine.”

She wondered if that was just a lie he said to everyone to get them to answer the questions. Maybe it was his go-to saying, so people spilled everything before they were killed.

“But if you’re going to be a pain in my ass, I will get the information out of you one way or another.” Ray seemed to be waiting for her to answer, but she didn’t know what to say.

She tried to adjust her hand on the towel, feeling her hands growing sweaty the longer he stared at her. Suddenly, the towel was no longer in her fingers. It had fallen from her grasp, and he looked down, seeing she was completely naked. Her breasts hung out on full display, and she didn’t even want to think about how her pussy looked right now. She gasped, utterly humiliated.

And that it doesn’t help that he’s insanely attractive. No, stop thinking like that, he is holding me hostage, demanding answers while I stand here naked.

Her face grew hot, both at her predicament and the thought, and she watched as his eyes grew large. He quickly released her, and Augusta bent down and grabbed at the towel, covering her body once more.

She cleared her throat, knowing it was going to come out high-pitched now. “Can I please get dressed?”

Ray’s face was a deep shade of red as he turned. “Two minutes.”

She ran into the bathroom and slammed the door closed. What did she just fucking get herself into?

Augusta grabbed her clothes and pulled them on frantically. She didn’t allow people to see much of her skin, let alone every single inch of her body. How was she going to face him again after that? He saw everything she had to offer. She might as well have bent over and spread her legs because there was nothing to hide now.

After putting her clothes on, she pulled her hair up in a ponytail and stared at herself in the mirror. Her face was still red, and she wasn’t sure she could ever leave this room again. But then suddenly, she heard a soft knock on the bathroom door. Ray cleared his throat. “It’s been three minutes.”

“Are you fucking timing me?” she snipped, grabbing at the door handle. She pulled the door open, glaring at him. “I’m sorry that my desire for modesty is an inconvenience to you.”

He sighed, rubbing his eyes. As embarrassed as she was, he seemed to have already moved past it. She didn’t know whether that was because he was a gentleman or if he was just that much of an ass. “Can you just sit down and let me ask the questions now?”
