“Am I interrupting something?” he snarks and I roll my eyes. Rooke reaches for his arm and pulls him down onto his lap. Cal laughs and I find myself smiling at how cute they are together.
“Well, now the cat’s out of the bag, I think we need to talk about what happened tonight,” Cal says with a groan. “Patience and I had to sign a bunch of papers. One being a prenup with an infidelity clause on her end, and the other, a commitment of marriage form.” He pauses and Kian starts to grumble. I cut in.
“That said. Cal and I talked. We have decided not to let a piece of paper control our life. If you all agree, we’d like to keep seeing you all. I don’t want this little thing to ruin everything I have built with you guys. I love you all. Yes, even you, asshole. I never stopped, even when I hated you,” I tell Cal, and his eyes widen in shock.
Rooke laughs and immediately nods. “I know we’re still getting to know each other, but I can tell you now, I’m starting to have feelings for you too,” Rooke says, and now my eyes are wide. I mean, I kinda knew, but to have it confirmed, I guess I’m a little shocked.
“You know how I feel,” Ki says, and I give him a quick kiss. Nate pulls me from him and takes my lips next. I moan against his mouth and Cal groans.
“That’s going to be something to get used to,” he mumbles then laughs as Rooke kisses him.
“One more thing,” I pant when Nate moves back to massaging my shoulders. “I think until the wedding, if any of us wants to fuck, we need to be together.” Nate chokes on air, and Ki gives me a weird look.
“What Patience is trying to say is that either I have to be present if you guys fuck and she has to be there if I fuck Rooke. Not all of us together. We’re not trying to have an orgy.”
“Speak for yourself,” Rooke mumbles and I laugh.
I glance around at this group that is quickly becoming a family and smile. If everything goes to plan, I think I could be happy.
Chapter Twenty-Nine
Iplop down on my couch and Mouse doesn’t waste any time jumping on my lap. She starts to purr as I rub her head and back. I have been neglectful lately, so I guess I shouldn’t be shocked. I grab the remote and flip on the local news station. Another man has been burned alive in the warehouse district. I snort and flip to another channel. Richard James needs to find a new way to dispose of people.
He’s outdated, and I refuse to take over. Plus, I honestly don’t think I would ever kill someone. It’s just not my thing. Now, protecting someone I love? Yeah, I would do that in a heartbeat. But killing someone just because they betrayed the family, or tried to steal from us, or just owed us money? Nope. He has hired thugs for that, and I will not be one of them.
The doorbell buzzes and I push Mouse to the side. She gives me a glare, but stands and does that weird circle spin before she lies back down. Fuck, I wish I could have the life of a cat sometimes.
I reach the intercom system and press the button to see who it is.
“Hey, can we chat?” Nate says into the speaker, and I sigh, but buzz him up. So much for a relaxing evening with Chinese takeout and my cat. I unlock my door and walk back to the couch, making a quick stop for some beers. I place them on the table then get comfy. Nate knocks, and I roll my eyes.
“Just come in,” I shout and Mouse jumps at the tone of my voice. “Sorry, baby,” I coo, giving her a scratch behind the ears. She licks my hand and I smile.
“I never took you for a cat person,” Nate comments, walking into the room. He’s in his socks, and grabs one of the beers off the table. I raise my brow at how comfortable he seems to be making himself in my home. “You just seem like a dog guy. A big one, like a Rottweiler, or a German Shepherd.”
“Mouse is plenty, trust me. Patience found her one day outside the club, and brought her to me," I tell him. Her mother would never allow her to have a pet. Not that she’s ever home to have an opinion on the matter.
Nate grunts and starts to fiddle with the label on his beer bottle. “So, what’s up? Why are you here? I know it’s not to discuss me having a cat.”
Sighing, he finishes off his beer and gives me a hard look. “I need some advice…” He trails off.
“I figured, what kind?” I ask, getting comfortable. He seems like he’s about to jump off the couch and run away. “Or do you want me to guess?” He raises a brow at that and groans.
“Is it really that obvious?” His cheeks darken and he stares off towards the wall. I laugh and shake my head.
“A little, but I don’t think Patience has a clue. Which is kind of funny. I think she’s just so happy to reconnect with you, she’s blindsided. So, what do you want to know?” He rubs his palms on his jeans then nods.
“I know the basics, obviously, and I’ve watched porn, but I want to turn Patience inside out like you do. I want to have her trembling beneath me, and screaming for more.” I snort and try not to laugh at him. I know he’s nervous.
“The first thing you need to know is that mine and Patience's relationship is completely different from how she usually is in bed. You know she’s a domme. I don’t know why, but she submits to me. Maybe it’s the age gap. I don’t really care. That said, she may take complete control of your first time. You should tell her you’re a virgin, Nate.” He shakes his head.
“No, I don’t want her to know that I was saving myself for her. Hoping to lose our virginities together.” I nod and decide to drop it. I don’t even remember who my first time was with. It’s different for some guys. I think it was at a party in high school. It didn't matter and wasn’t memorable. Not like all the times with Patience. She’s what matters to me.
I guess I’m envious that Nate will get that experience with her. I sigh and think for a minute then laugh. “If you really want to do something special for her, take her on a date. That’s the one thing I was never able to give her, and I know she’s always wanted it.”
“A date? Really? Like what?” he asks, then stands up and walks into my kitchen. I watch as he goes with an eyebrow raised. What the hell is he doing? I’m about to follow when he returns with a notepad and a pen.
“Okay, I’m ready, professor. Teach me.”
