I wrap my arms around her waist as I sit on the bench next to the kitchen island. “I want to do what we can’t do out there.” She glances out the glass door. “I want to hold your hand, kiss you, eat dinner. Maybe watch a movie. Then I want you to take me to bed,” she sighs and then moves away from me and back to the stove.
I know the fact we can’t be seen together like this in public is hard for her, but soon she will know the truth, and everything will make sense. I just hope she can forgive me in the end.

“Dinner was delicious,”I groan, finishing off my last bite. Patience stands and grabs our bowls, bringing them to the sink.
“What movie did you want to watch?” she asks me and starts walking to the living room. I grab her hand and pull her lips to mine. Ever since we started eating she's been locked in her head about something, and I need her to just come out with it. I’m starting to think that Alfredo was to butter me up about something.
She pulls away and gives me a smile. “How about we skip the movie and go to bed?” she suggests with a lustful gaze, and I am on board, but first we need to chat. After all, this might be the last time she wants to be alone with me. Everything is about to change, and it may make me sound like a pussy, but I love this girl. I don’t want to lose her, though I fear I might.
I take her hand and pull her over to the couch, she frowns but takes a seat. “What’s up, Ki?” She looks up at me with a worried gaze and my internal freak-out probably isn’t helping shit.
“Your birthday is on Monday,” I start and she nods, then gives me a bratty wink.
“I’ll be eighteen, and finally legal. Not that seventeen isn’t legal here, but you know what I mean.” I cough to cover my laugh and shake my head. Her ass is just itching for my palm.
“Yes, but there are also big changes coming. You know you will start shadowing at the company, among other things,” I mumble and she groans.
“Ki, I have known that I would be working at C & P since the day Dad’s will was read. This isn't news to me, so why are you bringing it up? It doesn't change anything between us. I’m still going to be going to college and working at Fantasies. I refuse to stop what I love doing just because I need to take ownership of something I don’t even know if I want.” She takes a breath and I sit beside her.
“That’s all true, but, Pay, there is so much more, and I wish I could tell you, but I’m bound to secrecy. You will have to make a choice. That’s all I’m saying, and I hope that choice includes me.” I run my hand down my face and sigh.
Her small hand touches my cheek and brings my gaze to hers. “I love you, Kian. That won’t ever change.” I lean in and kiss her soft and slow, causing her to smile.
“I love you too, Patience James.”Though I know I shouldn’t.
Nate
“There you are, son,” my father says, stomping into the den. I sigh and give him my attention. This is only the second time we have talked since I returned home, and the last conversation ended in a fight. “I need to discuss with you about next week. Your brother and I will be taking a little trip. I need you to stay home. I have already called the dean of Stonewall and excused your classes.” I stand up and cross my arms.
“You wanted me to return. Said it was time to put the family back together. So why am I being locked in this gated prison, while you and Cal get to gallivant across the country?” I huff and his eyes squint as his mouth purses.
“I don’t need to explain myself to you, Nathaniel.” I flinch at the name and his voice softens. “I am glad you’re home. But there is more at stake here than I can discuss. Your brother and I are taking a business trip. I need to know that you are safe while we’re gone. And one more thing. Keep away from the James’ house.”
I fight not to scoff or roll my eyes. Seriously, what does he think an almost eighteen-year-old girl is going to do to me? But I don’t want to fight with him. I nod and he takes that as me agreeing. He leaves the room and Cal enters a few minutes after.
“Trust me, you’re not missing out on anything. If I could stay home too, I would. Our business trips are always so boring, and he mostly has me stay in the hotel room.” He takes a seat and steals some of my nachos, then flips on a movie. I missed this. Just hanging out together. I grab the remote back and put my movie on again.
“Hey, I was watching that,” Cal snarks, and I laugh.
“You have seen that movie more than fifty times. This one is a new release. So sit back and shut up. Watch a movie with your brother, and give me back my nachos.” I take the plate from him, and he pouts.
“Fine,” he grunts, “I’ll go get my own.” I laugh as he tries to beg Dana to make him a snack. Little does he know I made them myself.
She finally gives in, and soon we are watching the new Marvel movie about vampires. We’re about halfway in when Cal’s phone rings. One look at who it is and his whole mood changes.
“Hey, are you done with practice?” he asks, then hands me his snack and stands. I pause the movie, but he looks my way and shakes his head, then walks out as he talks to, I’m assuming, Rooke. He’s the only one that makes my brother smile like that.
It reminds me of the way Patience makes me feel. Insane, happy, and in love.
Chapter Seventeen
After our talk, Kian seems even more unsettled. I convince him to watch a movie in my bed, and within twenty minutes he’s touching me. “I thought we were watching a movie?” I ask him, as I raise my head to look at him. He gives me a smirk and grabs the back of my neck, dragging my mouth to his. He kisses me hard and rolls me onto my back. I sigh against his mouth and he pulls away, looking at me as if I’m the most precious thing to him.
“I really do love you, Patience James.” I give him a smile and he kisses me again, running his hands up and down my body, removing my clothes. I grip his shoulders and kick his sweats down with my feet, as I rub against his hard cock. He laughs and rips his shirt off before going back to my lips.
His finger enters me and I moan. I’m still worked up from before dinner, and the subtle touches just make me want him more. He groans as he plays in my wetness.
