He gives us a terse nod, then stands. “It was a nice chat, but I’m afraid I have toys to buy.” He gestures toward the elevator.
This went far easier than I thought. Maybe I should send Poppy a gift basket for cutting the whole thing short.
We step onto the elevator, and Clevenger hits the button for the ground floor.
He stares at me in the mirrored door. “I hope you heard what I said, Logan.”
“Still not joining.” I shake my head.
“Not about business. About telling your wife. If she finds out on her own …” He sighs.
“She won’t.” I’ve gone to great lengths to keep that from happening, and I’ll go to even more if I find it necessary.
“As you say.” He shrugs and keeps that keen gaze on me, telling me silently that I’m a fool for hiding my work from Quinn.
But he doesn’t know her, not like I do. I know what’s best for my wife, and keeping her in the dark is the smart move. That little voice in the back of my head, though, now it’s louder and on repeat: If she finds out, she’ll leave. She’ll run. The thing is, I’ll chase her and I’ll find her. Because Quinn is the one thing in this world I can’t live without.

Quinn
One of the things I love most about living in the city is you can get anything delivered the same day. It’s so convenient. Harley watches me as I get ready for our little outing. I was a bit sad that Logan was gone when I woke this morning, but he has a job to do.
Even though I hate the fact that it takes him away from me so much, I understand how important it is. He owns like a whole freaking company that he needs to keep running. I should be grateful at how accomplished the man is. He must love his career.
“Daddy has to pay the bills,” I tell Harley. Totally not being passive aggressive at all. “Yes, he owns the place and can make his own hours.”
I sit down on the edge of bed, pulling on my boots. It’s a bit of a fight. They go all the way up to my knees. Logan is going to have to help me get them off later. Then again, that’s the whole point to begin with. I part my thighs, noticing four small bruises on the insides. I place my fingers over them, quickly realizing what they are.
“Wow,” I breathe. My panties grow damp at the thought of how they got there. It’s from Logan’s fingers.
Damn, that’s so sexy. I love seeing his mark on my skin. I don’t recall it hurting when he was grabbing me tight. I enjoyed every second. I always do when he gets overly possessive of me. I find myself trying to draw that side of him out.
The man was insatiable after the blowjob in the shower. He’d gone at me like a starved man unable to sate his hunger. Logan has always more than enjoyed going down on me. Last night, though, it was like something snapped inside him. Everything was a bit more aggressive. Even the things he whispered into my ear were a little more dirty than usual. I enjoyed every second of it and hope for a repeat soon.
A whimper leaves me when I close my eyes and recount all the things he said. Even though he let himself go more than usual last night, I could still tell there were moments he’d start to say something and cut himself off. It left me wondering what he’d wanted to say. Today I’m going to see if I can get him to finish saying some of those things.
I come to my feet, wobbling a bit. I can usually rock heels, but these things are five, maybe six inches. Harley watches me walk back and forth at the end of the bed, getting used to them for a second before I head into the closet. I walk back out wearing a fur Logan bought me last Valentine’s Day.
“It’s not real,” I tell Harley, who gives me a skeptical look. I put it on over my white lacy panties and bra before I head back into the bathroom to put on the bold shade of red lipstick. I can’t believe I’m actually doing this.
I stare at myself in the mirror and try to give myself a pep talk. It’s not that far to his office. I tie my coat closed before I snag one of my bigger Birkins and put Harley inside so he can come along with me.
“Mrs. Pruitt.” Martin stands from behind his guard desk. “You’re going out?” he asks, flustered.
“I am. Can you get me a car please?”
“Ms. Smooth isn’t coming with you?”
“No,” I respond as my face starts to warm.
