“You’re going to kill me.”
I moan around his cock as I take him all the way to the back of my throat. “Fuck shit. Pull up.” If I wasn’t about to come myself, I’d laugh at him for thinking I wasn’t going to swallow every drop of him down.
“Poppet!” He shouts my name as he starts to come. His orgasm triggers my own. I moan around his cock as we both find our release. I suck down every bit of him and don’t stop until he reaches for me and pulls me up his body.
He claims my lips in a sweet kiss.
“Morning.” I smile against his mouth. Pleasure still hums through my body.
“I love you, poppet. Remember that when I'm digging a grave for your friend.” He gives me a hard kiss before slipping out of bed. I sit up, confused.
“What?”
“Ian’s here,” he says as he pulls his boxers back up. “Clothes on before you come downstairs. I’ll pluck his eyes out, and then you’ll be pissed at me.” I snort a laugh.
“Hey.” I find splintered wood on the pillow. “What happened to the headboard?”
“You happened,” Vinny grumbles, coming out of the closet fully dressed in a flash.
“Was I faster last night? When I ran from you?”
“You were incredibly fast.”
“Does that happen to everyone that drinks vampire blood or is that a mate thing?”
“I don’t know, but we’ll keep digging to find out.” He offers me his hand, pulling me out of bed.
“Are you hungry?” I stroke my finger down his jaw.
“I’m fine for now.”
I close my eyes, trying to feel him. I smile, feeling his love for me.
“Okay, but you’ll tell me when you are, right? I don’t want secrets between us.”
“No secrets,” he agrees. “I promise.” He leans down to seal it with a kiss. “Now get some clothes.” He smacks my ass.
“Okay!” I squeak and run into the closet where Vinny put the bag of my belongings that Ian had gotten for me.
“You look good,” Ian says when I enter the kitchen with Buffy in my arms. I smile when I hear a growl come from my Vinny.
“Calm down, Vinny bug. He’s not into me.” I set Buffy down on the counter where I see Vincent has put out a fresh water and food bowl.
“Everyone is into you,” he grumbles.
Ian rolls his eyes.
“It’s cute that you think I’m utterly irresistible to everyone.”
He grabs me by the hips, setting me down on the island in the kitchen where Ian is eating some pastry thing.
Ian has made himself right at home. Good, I want him to feel welcome here. He gave me a home when I didn’t have anywhere else to go. He might have taken me under his wing, but Ian was alone too. Just because I found my mate doesn't mean I want things to change between us. He’s still my best friend, and whether my Vinny likes it or not, Ian saved my life and ultimately led me to him.
“You are utterly irresistible. You’re perfection. You even have an adorable button nose.” He leans in and kisses the tip of it. “And your freckles couldn’t have been placed more perfectly on your cheeks. Your eyes are as green and deep as the Trossachs, but yours have these specks of gold. Thirteen in your left and fifteen in your right. Even your ears are—”
“Trossachs?”
“A forest in Scotland,” Ian answers.
“What about my ears?” I pull on my earlobes. I’ve always wanted to get them pierced, but maybe I should leave them be if they are a work of art.
“They are—”
“There is another vampire that has been hanging around here.” If Ian was trying to get Vincent to stop talking about my ears, that does the trick. His fangs start to peek out. “A new body was found too. All the blood was drained like all the others.”
“I left my goody bag in the car.” I actually completely forgot about my car. I go to jump down to get it, but Vincent stops me.
“When was it found?” Vincent asks.
“Early afternoon. Only a few blocks from here. They think the time of death was around three a.m.”
“Damn.” I whisper. We’d all been here. It happened right under our noses. “We have to do something.”
“Agreed,” Ian sighs.
“I’ll go hunting, find the vampire responsible.”
“You said you hadn’t sensed any vampires around.”
“I know, but maybe I can check the spot where the body was found.”
“Or we could handle it the easy way. We should set a trap,” I suggest.
“A trap?” Vincent hits me with a hard stare. “What kind of trap?”
“Vampire catnip.” I wiggle my eyebrows.
“Over my fucking dead body,” he growls. When is he going to realize his growls do the opposite of scare me?
“Welp, it’s a good thing you’re already dead,” I tease.
No one laughs.
Buffy lets out a meow that I’m taking as a laugh. My girl always has my back.
