Her eyes widen, and she nods like a lunatic.

“Well... I sort of got locked in a closet with him.”

“What?” she yells, jumping to her knees and scooting toward me. “How the hell did that happen?”

“I was using a private restroom that someone told me about, but when I stepped out, I heard someone coming. I was told to not be seen, so I ducked into what I thought was another bathroom, but instead stumbled into the closet that locks from the outside.”

Her hands fly to her mouth, covering her glee-filled squeak.

“Tell me all the gory details.”

I take another bite, clearing my plate.

“Not much to tell,” I say around a mouthful. “We made out, and then someone found us.”

Lily’s nose scrunches. “You made out? That’s all?”

I roll my eyes. “What did you expect, Lil? I’m not the kind of girl who has sex in a closet in a club.”

She grunts. “That may be so, but with that guy? You should’ve made an exception. He was easily the hottest guy I’ve ever seen, Raven.”

She isn’t wrong. I agree wholeheartedly that he is a caliber far beyond what I’m accustomed to attracting.

“Then it’s a good thing I didn’t embarrass myself by throwing my body at him.”

She snorts. “You’re an idiot for not throwing your body at him.”

I press my lips together and narrow my eyes at her.

“What? It’s not like you’ll ever see him again.”

“That’s exactly why I didn’t. I have standards.”

She blows out a breath. “Are you waiting for a ring?”

“Not a ring... but a commitment? Yeah, I think I’ll hold off for one of those.”

“Last I checked, you said you didn’t have time for commitments.”

Damn Lily, always calling me out on my bullshit.

“I’d make time for the right guy,” I say, picking at my fingernails.

“How will you ever meet the right guy when you’re constantly pushing away any that comes along?”

“I resent your words of wisdom right now.”

She chuckles. “I’m just saying, it’s okay to let loose every now and then. Having consensual sex with a gorgeous man isn’t a crime, Raven.”

“He called me some other girl’s name,” I say, voice pitching. It’s a bit of a lie, but she doesn’t need to know that Rae was what he used.

Her eyes widen. “Why didn’t you lead with that? That’s a whole other matter entirely.”

“Now you see,” I say, swiping my hand out. “I stopped before it went too far because the guy likely slept with another woman earlier in the night. He’s a player.”

She blows out a breath. “Well, that’s a disappointment. In that case, I’m glad you left him with blue balls.”

I choke on the water I just swallowed. “Who said anything about that?”
