“We’ll take all the bears to bomb those witches’ precious café. While they are busy watching it burn to the ground, half of you will launch a barrage of fire on them. While you finish taking out the witches, the rest of us will head over to the Saint Laurent and fire it up. Nick will have no choice but to get his mate out of there. And that’s when I’ll finally finish him off. We’ll see how tough he is without his little coven of witches looking out for him.”

“Some of the bears are spooked, boss.”

“Spooked? Or just chicken shits?”

“It’s those damn witches. They’ve never came across witches before. And, of course, they all grew up hearing the stories about how witches have been our mortal enemies.”

“Yeah. Just stupid fairy tales, as far as I’m concerned. Remind those bears that they are supernatural beings as well. Powerful ones. Just remember, those witches are nothing without their magic. All you have to do is get the jump on them, don’t even give them the chance to whip their wands out.”

“What about Nick? Why do you think he showed up here? Do you really think he came to challenge you?”

“I have no idea why he’s here. He’s an asshole, so my guess is he is on the run from something or someone. As far as him challenging me, it doesn’t matter if he plans to or not. The fact that he showed up and didn’t submit to me makes him a threat. Not just to me, but to all of us.

“Maybe he won’t challenge me today, but he will eventually. I’ve got to nip that shit in the ass. And the fact that he’s aligned himself with witches means he is a threat to all of us. I’m not about to let that shit slide. No way. That fucker and his witches are going down.”

“So when are we doing this, boss?” Mule asked.

“As soon as the sun sets, we attack.”

“We’re gonna get them bitches!” Mule pumped his fist in the air.

“Damn right we are. No one fucks with us and gets away with it,” Gavin growled. “Get the men together and gather the supplies. We ride at sundown!”

ChapterTwenty-One

“We need to come up with a plan,” Annie said as she paced around the kitchen.

Maggie, Gina, Nick, Clara, Clint, and Rick stared back at her.

“I think you’re right. I don’t have a good feeling about any of this. The time that I spent being Gavin’s prisoner was enough for me to know that he’s seriously bat-shit crazy. He’s not going to go away quietly,” Gina said, taking a sip of her coffee.

“Thankfully, the café is closed today, so we can figure this shit out,” Maggie flipped several of the pancakes she had on the griddle once before sliding them onto a large platter and filling the griddle with another batch of batter.

“Clint, do you know this guy? You’ve lived here the longest,” Clara asked.

“No. I’ve never met him. I’ve also never heard of any bear shifters in the area. Hell, I was surprised when Rick showed up and told us about the gator clans.”

“This area sure is a hotbed for paranormals,” Nick sighed.

“I’m just as surprised as you are, babe,” Gina said. “I had no idea so many species or creatures even existed.”

The more Gina learned about Misfit Bay and its inhabitants, the more shocked she was.

“I think it’s time for us to ask for help with our little bear problem,” Maggie suggested as she placed the pancake platter on the table. “Help yourselves.”

“Just admit it. You’re jonesing to see Sheriff McHotpants again.” Annie laughed.

“Please. I have his number. If I wanted to hook up with him, all I’d have to do is text him. I told you, I’m not in the right frame of mind for any sort of relationship at this point in my life.” Maggie grabbed her coffee and a seat at the table.

“I know. I know. You’re perfectly happy being single and living your own life,” Annie said, stabbing two pancakes and dropping them on her plate.

“Exactly,” Maggie said with a smile.

“Should I even ask who Sheriff McHotpants is?” Nick asked.

“Cole McDade, the parish sheriff. The girls are all enamored with him. He’s a great guy and all, but really nothing to look at as far as I’m concerned.” Clint shrugged.

“Of course, you’d say that. The man is a choice cut USDA certified fucking hottie,” Annie said.
