She gasped softly.
“Sorry. That was probably way too much information to give on a first official date.”
“This isn’t our first date,” she argues. “It’s the second.”
“Oh? Enlighten me because this is news to me.”
“Beach Day was the first date. How could you have forgotten?”
He parked the car in his driveway and turned to face her. “Are you messing with me right now?”
She giggled and nodded. “Maybe a bit. Don’t be stressed, Parker. You’ll do great. I have it on good authority that you’re gonna do just fine tonight.”
He narrowed his eyes at her. “Mason told Lila about our phone call, didn’t he?”
She shook her head. “No, he didn’t. You just did, though. Did you really call Mason? Whatever for?”
“Never mind that.” He leapt out of the car and made his way around it to let her out. He made sure to intertwine their fingers together as he led them to his front door.
Jade whistled low. “This cabin is beautiful. Did you buy it?”
“I did, yes.” He tried to see it from her perceptive, and he had to admit it cut an impressive figure.
The cabin was three stories high and made of thick, shining light wood. The front and the back … which had an amazing view of the lake … were made of huge windows that gave a good peek inside of the house. It filled it with warm natural light, which was only augmented when the sun reflected off the water’s smooth surface.
The house had cost him a pretty penny, given that it was massive. It had five bedrooms and just as many bathrooms. The basement was finished, but he had turned the enormous family room area into a workspace. Not that he was doing all that much work now that he was retired.
He unlocked the door and gave Jade the grand tour. The huge stone fireplace in the living room was a hit, but nothing could prepare him for her reaction to the master bedroom’s en suite bathroom.
The huge bathtub and neighboring glass shower had her gasping and exclaiming all sorts of things. He couldn’t help but imagine Jade nude in the tub, her skin all full of suds which hid her breasts from his gaze.
Great. Now I’m making myself hard, and we’re not even having dinner yet.
“This place really is amazing,” Jade gushed when they were in the massive kitchen. She sipped a glass of white wine sangria he had made for their night together.
Had he chosen white wine because she mentioned red wine could sometimes give her a headache? Yup.
“This is delicious,” she commented after a small sip. “A little on the dangerous side, though.”
“Deceptively light and fresh?” he guessed.
She nodded. “Yeah. I’ll have to pace myself, or else I’ll end up skinning dipping in the lake.”
He chuckled low and secretly wanted to ply her with all of the wine he had to actually get to see her skinny dipping in the lake, but that wasn’t the right way to start their relationship. He would make sure she stayed hydrated.
If they had sex tonight, it would be because Jade was overcome with emotion for him. Not because her inhibitions were lowered, care of the sangria.
“I don’t suggest skinning dipping in the lake,” he commented, taking out the appetizers from the oven. “It would be freezing, but if you like, the hot tub is useful for that.”
Her eyes went round. “There’s a hot tub here?”
He laughed softly as he plated the mushroom caps and bruschetta bites onto a small white tray. “There is, yeah. It was one of the first things I added to this place when I bought it. I like swimming just fine, but I’ll have the hot tub in the winter.”
“Oh,” she gasped. “That’s an amazing idea. With that view?” She moved her hand in an arch motion at the massive windows that overlooked the lake and his impressively big backyard. “That will be so fun for you.”
“For us,” he corrected, lifting his drink in quiet cheers.
She blushed deep and took another little sip which only added to the redness of her cheeks.
