She closed the minute space between their mouths with a silencing kiss. She didn’t want to think about that. She didn’t want to think about her sick cheetah cub. She didn’t want to think about her sisters no longer living with her in the US. She wanted all that confusion and uncertainty and emptiness to be gone. Care of Mick’s lips and hands and arms and abs and cock.

For whatever reason, Mick’s kisses and touch eased the ache doing its best to undo her. If she was going to be undone, she was going to be undone by sheer no-strings, no-expectations, no-future fucking.

With Mick.

Right here. On the beach.

He growled into the kiss, driving his thick erection harder into her palm. His other hand cupped the back of her head, fingers tangling in her hair.

His tongue lashed over hers, his hold on her wrist guiding her hand on his cock; up and down, up and down.

Dio, he was fucking huge!

Her sex contracted at the thought of it moving inside her.

He groaned, tearing his mouth from hers and staring down into her eyes once again. His breath burst from him, choppy and rapid. “You have no fucking clue how much I want you right—”

The night detonated in brilliant-white light followed immediately by a crack of thunder so loud Zeta squealed. Mick pulled her to him, his eyes wide as he looked up into the darkening night sky. “Jesus, where didthat—”

It started raining. Zeta turned her face up into the fine droplets, a chuckle falling from her. “Sex on the beach in the rain? How romance novel can we be?”

He snorted out a chuckle. “You read romance novels?”

A cold finger danced up Zeta’s spine. She narrowed her eyes at him, taking a step back out of his arms. “What’s wrong with reading romance novels? What? You think they’re stupid? Of course you do. I forgot. You thinkeverything’s stupid except for you.” Her stomach clenched. “God, what was I thinking? You might be a kissing god, but you’re still an arrogant jerk.”

Mick’s eyebrows shot up. “Iwasgoing to say my sister reads romance novels as well. AndthenI was going to ask if you’ve checked out her massive collection, but seeing asyou’vealready judged me guilty of being an arrogant jerk, how about I say this instead. You are the most judgmental, mercurial—” he held out his hands in front of him as if trying to strangle the air, his gaze jumping all over the place, “—frustratingwoman I’ve ever—”

The night bleached white a second before thunder cracked the world. Deafening. Bone-rattling.

Zeta yelped, ducking and slamming her hands to her ears. The heavens really opened then, pelting torrential rain down on them.

“Let’s go, let’s go,” Mick shouted, holding his hand out to her, the other trying to shield his eyes from the attacking raindrops.

She went to take his hand. Lightening blinded her. Thunder deafened her. She squealed again, hands rammed to her ears once more, staggering backward, sideways. Wet sand oozed between her toes. Grains of it stung her bare ankles and thighs, flung up by the rain striking around her feet.

“It’s okay.” Mick’s fingers brushed at her elbows as the rain tried to drown out his shout. “I’m here.”

She squinted up at him. Blinked over and over as water pelted her face. “This storm’s timing sucks!”

He laughed. At least, she thought he did. She could barely see him through the downpour, and all she could hear was the storm and the waves—now angry and pounding the wet sand.

His fingers found hers.

Just as the world shattered in a blinding white, deafening crack again.

Dio! She flinched, almost falling on her ass.

Mick snagged her hand. “We gotta go,” he shouted, his hair plastered to his head. Water streamed off his nose, his chin. She nodded, tightening her grip on his hand.

He began running for the sandy path that led through the dense bushes and trees and palms back to the wedding reception venue. Zeta ran behind him. Then beside him. The rain grew heavier, and by the time they’d reached the tree line and the path, it was so heavy it was almost impossible to see anything.

“Is this a normal storm?” she yelled.

“We turned it on just to impress you Yanks,” Mick yelled back.

At least, shethoughtthat’s what he yelled. Now they were in the bushy area, the rain sounded like a furious roar, as if a hurricane was about to park its ass on top of them.

“Yanks?” She grunted under her breath. “I’ll show you.”
