LIAM
“Where the fuck is she?”
My eyes snap up and I spot Gilbert, Mercy’s father, standing before me.
“I didn’t do it.”
“Then who the fuck did? Where’s my fucking daughter, Liam? My wife is going to go out of her mind. She has already lost one daughter.”
I blow out a long breath.
“My son kidnapped Mercy. They think she’s dead. But she can’t be.”
He grabs onto the bars, squeezing tight, turning his knuckles white, he’s seething, as he should be. After all, he may be an asshole, but he is still her father. “I need you to help me find her. I know you have connections,” I say.
“Why would your son kidnap my daughter?”
I sigh as I tell him the whole sordid situation.
“When I find my daughter, and I will, you do realize, I’m going to put a bullet in your son’s brain, right?”
I shake my head and ball up my fists, “You owe me a favor.”
He glares at me, “What are you asking here?”
“Find her. Let the police deal with my son. I don’t want him to die. He’s a troubled young man not a monster. But, if you can’t save her without killing him, then you do what you need to do.”
With pinched eyebrows, he says, “You do realize, if I grant this favor, you’ll owe me? You will be in my debt, and I will collect on that debt.”
I run my hands through my hair, “I don’t care. Find Mercy, save my son. You can take my life; it doesn’t matter to me.”
“I won’t take your life, Mercy would never forgive me, as tempting as it is.”
I nod because I know he’s right. She loves me like no other woman ever has. I miss her so much, and the thought of never seeing her again, leaves a lump in my throat and an ache in my chest. Even thinking I will never hold her again sends me into a dark pit of devastation.
“Her condition will dictate your debt. Now, do you have any idea where he has her?”
I rub my jaw in contemplation, “Not a clue. He’s a drug addict, so wherever you can find drugs you’ll find him.”
“Do you think he’s capable of taking her life?”
I start to pace, “I don’t know. I wouldn’t have thought he was the type of person to kidnap her, and he did. The drugs have taken over at this point. My son has turned into someone I don’t even know.”
In a split-second decision, I decided to keep to myself, he plans on raping her. That’s not something a father needs to know.
“What kind of drugs?”
“I don’t know. Something hard obviously. I asked, but he never told me what he was using.”
He pulls out a notepad and pen from his back pants pocket.
“What’s his name?”
“Nash Lexington.”
“I’ll be in contact, but please know, if I find out you're lying to me, and you had anything to do with this, I will kill you regardless of what Mercy wants.”
