Heads twisted in her direction, and Marissa grinned.

Chance growled. Dinner is fuckin’ served!

Relieved laughter arose from the people around him as Chance narrowed his eyes at his sister. Payback was a bitch, and next year Chance would get himself some. One way or another!

Epilogue.

December 15th2020.

Tati

“Al! I need to go to the hospital. Something is wrong.” I gasped as I headed down the stairs, clinging to the handrail.

“Baby?” Big Al called as I heard his footsteps thump towards me.

“Al,” I cried as pain shot through me again. Fuck this shit, this freaking hurt. Strong arms caught me up as I gazed into Big Al’s pale face. Behind him came Chance.

“Get the car,” Big Al ordered, and Chance disappeared. “Where’s the pain?” Big Al demanded as he carried me out. Chance was already in the truck with the engine running. Big Al lifted us both into the rear seats, and Chance sped off before seatbelts were even in place.

“Fuck me!” I cried and bent over.

“Think it’s something lingering from the accident?” Chance asked, and Big Al shrugged.

“I don’t know, but this is killing me.” I groaned. A fluttering erupted in my belly, and I thought I would be sick. I lifted my top and saw something poke out before disappearing.

“What the hell was that?” Big Al shrieked, and Chance nearly hit the car in front at Big Al’s shriek.

“What?” Chance asked, worry lacing his tone.

“Tati has an alien in her stomach!” Big Al yelled.

“Shut the fuck up! I don’t!” I yelled back, panic setting in as my gut twisted.

“Then what was that?” Big Al shouted.

“It could be a hernia,” I snapped, and Big Al looked at me before settling. Oh yeah, a hernia was far more likely than an alien! As Chance rushed us to the hospital, Big Al kept a sharp eye on my stomach, and we saw the weird protrusion twice.

“I think it’s scar tissue or something. It’s caused a hernia,” I said to Big Al, who was slowly regaining his colour.

“We can handle that baby,” he soothed, his hand gently brushing the hair from my face. As soon as Chance screeched outside, Al had me in his arms and carried me in while I whimpered in pain. They hooked me up and took my stats as the nurse peppered us with questions. I cried softly as Big Al and Chance took turns explaining the accidents and the surgeries I’d undergone. Also, thedilation and curettage operation to remove what was left of my child.

The doctor in charge pulled my charts and read through them, and then his face paled. He spoke secretly to the nurse and showed her something in my chart, and then she disappeared.

“Sir, we need to take your wife for a scan. And it’s urgent,” the doc said. Big Al and Chance both puffed up.

“What’s your concern?” Big Al demanded.

“Please, let us do a scan…”

“Answer my brother,” Chance thundered.

“They fired the surgeon who did the D&C operation for misconduct. He’d… mishandled… um… some surgeries,” the doctor replied.

“He fucked them up, operated on Tati, and may have screwed my wife up!” Big Al roared. The doctor nodded, and Chance wrapped an arm around Big Al. I put my hand out, and Big Al clasped it.

“Take my wife for her scan. And let me tell you, she better get five-star service, or I’m gonna start ripping off heads. And you’ll be right on the front line!” Big Al threatened.

“Shut up!” I groaned and twisted on the bed. Two nurses appeared, and before I knew it, I was whisked away for a scan. Big Al remained in my room and watched as they took me away. The expression on his face made me cry. It was so forlorn and helpless. Chance stood beside him, looking just as bad.
