“Oh good, I’m glad you’re not worried about me shoving imaginary babies out yet, Celt!”
“We’re going to build a home, somewhere safe for all of us, away from the crazy that comes with being famous. Want that place here, in Spearfish. We got family and friends here. So we’re building a life here. You’ll be part of Hellfire, and you better get your head around it. Also, Big Al will marry us. I ain’t putting up with the bitching that goes on when Big Al doesn’t get his way.”
“Anything else?” I asked calmly. Celt didn’t note my tone but carried blithely on.
“Yeah, no more of these motherfucker stalkers. We take the hard route straight away. No pissing about being wishy-washy. We push for prosecution. I’m to be included in all security briefings, and if I think something is dangerous, I get a voice.”
“Oh, I’d love to see someone deny you that!” I drawled.
“We’re gonna build a life and live a long fuckin’ time, baby. You’re gonna strut your shit, sing your songs and play your music. The boy’s going to college, whether or not Jesse likes it.” Judging by Jesse’s scowl, he didn’t like it. “Jesse can do what he wants once he’s got his education out of the way. We stand together now, Chey; I almost lost you. Ain’t suffering that again! Questions?” Celt barked.
“Um, yeah, you’ve not given me an explanation as to why I need to do this shit.” Celt stared at me in surprise.
“Yes, I did.”
“No, you threw out claiming and a load of other crap, but I haven’t got a reason.”
“You know why!” Celt blustered.
“Nope, I don’t see what’s in it for me,” I said, shaking my head. Celt’s eyes took on a decidedly wicked glint.
“Well, you get this,” Celt smirked, waving a hand at his body.
“That’s just fucking gross. Not in front of the kid!” Jesse moaned.
“Shut up, son,” Celt grumbled.
“Celt, I hate to tell you, but lots of men have muscles like yours,” I replied and hid a smile as Celt grinned.
“Yeah, but mine are best.”
“Okay, so you have the greatest body in the entire world, whatever. But what do I win? Why should I let you take over our lives?” I pushed. Celt needed to say what I desired to hear.
“Because I can’t live without you, Chey, because I fuckin’ love you to hell and back.”
“And that’s all I needed!” I said and slammed my mouth across his. “Bossy fucking biker!”
“Don’t you forget that!” Celt murmured as Jesse made heaving noises in the background. Ah well, nothing was ever perfect.
Characters.
The Hellfire patch.Circular patch with the flames starting at the bottom and going halfway up the circle. In the middle of them is a skeleton with a devil’s horns on its head and holding a pitchfork. In the other hand, the skeleton holds a motorbike and above the skeleton’s head is a crown of flames. Hellfire MC is written underneath in a bold freestyle script in white.
Hellfire MC.
Chance Michaelson. DOB 1973. Chance is the Hellfire President. His father started Hellfire. Chance looks like Tim McGraw with long hair. He is Drake’s older cousin. They were brought up together and are as close as brothers. They both fought to get their clubs clean from the filth that infected them. There are a lot of comments that Chance and Drake could be twins. Chance is very protective of Phoenix and loves her without reserve.
Chance is six foot four and projects a deceptive leanness. In fact, he has a broad chest and shoulders that are muscled, not heavy like a wrestler but clear muscle definition. He’s lean hipped and long-legged. Chance’s hair is shaved at the sides, and he’s left the top long and tied back in a ponytail. He has sharp, bright green eyes with laughter lines. Chance has a neat goatee the same colour as his hair, a brown so dark it looks black sometimes. He has a pin-up girl on his right arm. He’s married to Clio and is father to Louisa Mae.
Bear. Bear is the Hellfire VP. Chance lets it slip to Drake that Bear has a dead sister. Phoenix calls him Bearbear. Bear loves his food and drink and doesn’t care who knows it. His real name is Sky Blue. Bear can be hotheaded and hot-tempered, but he’s loyal and caring. Bear’s hair is light brown, cut short at the sides, and long on top. He has a floppy lock that keeps falling over his eyes.
His eyes are a light hazel, which look amber when the light catches him just right. Bear has a strong face, not classically handsome but eye-catching and attractive. His jaw is square, and a goatee hides firm but plump lips. Bear is six foot seven with shoulders as wide as a wrestler and his chest just as broad. He has long legs and thick muscles. He’s married to Thalia.
Diesel. Diesel is Hellfire’s Sergeant at arms. He buys and flips houses, putting half the profit into the Hellfire coffers. Diesel is a quiet man who speaks when he has something to say. He’d once had an old lady who’d split from him during the fight to get the club clean.
Big Al.Al is Hellfire’s Chaplin. He has an old lady called Tatianna and owns a pawnbroker. Al is the only First Gen left and is over twenty years older than Tati.
Rooster.Rooster is Hellfire’s Secretary and handles their money. He has three kids, all boys but isn’t with their mother, and he has custody of them.
