Everyone’s silent for a moment until Del whispers, “Praise the Lord.”
I glare at Sem because we have not discussed what this is between us, and yet a small part of me is thrilled that maybe he wants more than whatever this is we’re doing.
Jesus, I’m already half in love with the guy.
Luke swats his leg. “Enough of this serious shit. Everyone’s getting fucked. Caleb, Mag, Anne. They’re all happy as pie about it. Now that that’s cleared up, can we move on to other important matters, like how Caleb just admitted to me mere minutes ago that he was, in fact, not a drug dealer in middle school. That the weed I bought off of him was, in fact, not weed.”
Caleb smiles widely and fist bumps Sem, who’s chuckling.
“What was it then?” I ask.
Luke meets my gaze. “Oregano.”
“You seriously told him it was pot?” I ask Caleb with a laugh.
“Yeah,” Liam says. “He did. And this loser believed him.”
“I was thirteen,” Luke grumbles. “Didn’t know any better.”
My eyebrows rise. “And you smoked it?”
“I did. Got high as a kite too,” Luke replies.
Whit huffs as he slides a hand up Caleb’s shirt. “You cannot get high off oregano. That’s not a thing, Luke.”
“How would you know? You ever tried it, Whit?” Luke quips, and Sem laughs again, taking a long sip of beer.
Oh my god. These people are seriously ridiculous. No wonder Sem turned out the way he did. They’re like free-range, gun-toting criminals. It’s the Upside Down out here.

The following morning, we wake up a little too late. I have zero incentive to move when Sem is curled up behind me, his hand tucked down my pants cupping my junk. I just lie there and rub against him until he blinks those blue eyes open.
“Best way to wake up,” he grunts and then grabs a condom and slips inside of me. He takes his time, working me up and over the edge, and when we’re both spent, lying in our mess, he nudges me.
“We better get moving.”
“Meh,” I mutter, and so he picks me up, carries me into the shower, and washes me clean.
After that, we lazily pack and drive the three hours up the mountain. It’s cooler up here amongst the trees than the dry heat at the lower elevations, and it’s a bit of a relief. I tend to wilt a bit in the summer heat so the cool breeze currently floating through our shaded campsite is entirely welcome.
I glance over my shoulder and see Sem bending over, and I can’t help but check out his ass. Because, let me tell you, after our shower, he leaned over, and I slid that plug right between his cheeks. If he moves the right way, I can see the outline of it.
“Boo,” Luke says in my ear, and I jump. The camping chair I was trying to unfold clatters to the ground.
“What is wrong with you? Do you enjoy frightening people?” I grumble, and Luke chuckles as he bends down and quickly unfolds the chair for me.
“Nah, just you. I like watching you jump. So, tiny, you going to come climbing with us once we’re done setting up?”
I look over at Sem and shrug. “I don’t know. Do you think I should? I’ve never done it before. What are the chances that I fall to my death?”
Luke pats my head, and I glower at him. “Nah. No dying today. Don’t worry. I’ve gotchu. Sem would murder me if anything happened to you. Plus, I want to be the best man at your wedding.”
“I don’t know if we’re…we haven’t discussed that.”
Luke scoffs. “Yeah, no need to discuss. You’re getting married. Truth.”
I suck my bottom lip into my mouth and then peek over at Sem, who is watching me converse with Luke.
