I need to compliment this guy more often. He’s amazing.

“Yeah,” he says, running a hand through his hair and mussing it up. “Just a little project I started a while back and got a little carried away.”

I move around the large space, marveling at how nice it is. “A little project? This must have been a lot of work. Did you…” I run my hands over the new cabinets and look at him. “Did you make these?”

He shrugs. “Yeah. The motorhome was in pretty bad shape, but I got a good deal on it, so I bought it and rebuilt it.”

“Just like that?” I ask, my fingertips trailing across the counter.

“Yeah.”

“You’re so talented, Sem. Not everyone could do this,” I say and open a drawer and peek inside. Nothing exciting, just utensils. I want to find the good stuff. Everyone has at least one drawer filled with the filthy things they want to keep secret.

“Can I see the rest of it? And by that, I mean can I lookeverywhere?” I say, and Sem nods, following me as I open each drawer and cabinet. I even peer in the fridge and side-eye Sem when I see the amount of beer inside relative to food. Then we make our way to the bathroom, which has also been remodeled. When I look under the sink, I see a gun.

“Seriously?”

“Can never be too careful when you’re taking a shit.”

“Oh my god.”

I close the door and step two feet into the bedroom.

“Are there guns in here too?”

“Yep. And some knives too.”

I try to peek into a drawer by his bed, but he stands in front of it.

“Nah, not here, Maggie. This is off-limits.”

“Ooh. Why? Now I’m intrigued.” I rub my hands together and wet my lips.

He looks away from me, and I try to reach around him, but he just picks me up and sets me on the other side of the bed.

“I’m not ready for you to see.”

“Damn.”

“Patience, Maggie.”

I smile at him and then run my hand across the dark grey comforter. “So, sans all the weapons hidden around here, this is…I can see why you live here. I think I like this better than my apartment. This is so cozy.”

Sem leans against the doorway of the small room in the back of the RV.

“Glad you like it. I can make you one if you want.”

I snort at that and then shake my head. “No way. I could never drive this thing. It’s much too big. Maybe I’ll just be your passenger. If you’ll have me.”

He rolls his lips between his teeth and then moves toward me, running a finger down the buttons of my shirt.

“You’re always welcome to tag along.” Sem pauses a moment and then says, “Can I…I want to sketch you.”

My eyebrows rise at that. “Sketch me?”

“Yeah.”

“You draw?” Because this guy could not get any more surprising.
