This tense conversation goes on for a few more minutes, and then he’s hanging up and sagging against me.

“I hate him,” he admits, and I press my face into his neck.

“I hate him too. He sounds like a dick,” I say, and Whit huffs a laugh at that.

“He’s not the best father.”

“I’ve never had a dad, but even I know yours can do better.”

“You have your uncle. He loves you. That’s more than I have.”

“Yeah,” I say, and then press my lips into his neck and don’t kiss him exactly, but let my mouth linger there, just breathing on him.

It should be creepy, but he arches his neck slightly to give me more room.

So I keep my mouth there for a few more seconds before nuzzling him.

“We should go downstairs,” he says, and I squeeze him tightly.

“Why?” I ask. “We could just stay up here for a while.”

“Your aunt’s missed you. She wants to spend time with you. I’m sure your uncle does too.”

“You guilting me into this, Whit?” I ask and then add. “You think that you can tell me what to do just because I let you jack me off?”

Whit turns his face slightly and meets my eyes.

“Yes.”

I roll my eyes and then let him go. “Alright, fine. Let’s go.”

We spend the rest of the evening playing cards, and I’m surprised when Whit kicks our ass multiple times.

Makes me horny as hell. But then again, everything he does seems to set me off.

It’s getting a little ridiculous.

When we sit outside that night, my body curled up against his under a blanket as we watch the stars and just listen to the wind whip through the trees, I feel so at peace.

Whit seems happy too. He hasn’t pulled his Kindle out once, and I’m feeling flattered.

“You like it out here?” I ask, and Whit nods, tracing the shell of my ear.

“It’s been a while since I’ve disconnected.”

“You should do it more. Maybe disconnect that phone of yours too.”

Whit leans his head back and sighs. “Yeah, I should.”

“Ever feel like just running away?” I ask.

Whit turns to look at me, pressing his face into my hair, sighing.

“All the time.”

And when we crawl into bed that night, I don’t even bother to pretend. I just crawl up on top of him and bury my face in his neck.
