“Now in English.” Fucking Espada had them calling him boss in Spanish. If Storm knew, he’d be furious.

“Yes, boss.” Ryder rolled his eyes. “So, no tacos?”

“Sorry. I forgot.” I threw my hands up. Damn, I was relieved these jerks were only upset about food. “We got a conference call at seven.”

The men groaned.

“I know, I know. I don’t want to spend my Friday night on a call. I doubt it will run long.” I went to the fridge, grabbed a beer, twisted off the cap, and chugged half of it. I was still rattled after my near-death experience with the cliff. The responsibilities on my shoulders were crushing me, and the worst of this goddamned situation hadn’t even occurred.

The beer didn’t soothe me the way tequila did. Sadly, the hard stuff would have to wait until after I met up with Brynne. I’d probably get wasted afterward. Maybe I should stand her up. Push her away. I could tell she liked me more than a friend. The apples of her cheeks turned pink, and her neck and chest flushed when I was around. All the signs she was into me had been present since we met. I tried to stay aloof and detached, but I had never wanted a woman before the way I wanted Brynne.

“What do we eat now?” Copper tossed his cards on the table. “I’m starving, and the fridge is empty.”

My MC brothers stared at me like they hadn’t eaten in days. Helpless babies.

“Y’know what?” I put my bottle on the counter and went toward Copper. “There’s this place called a grocery store. It’s mind-blowing, totally crazy insane, but the shelves are filled with… wait for it…”—I widened my eyes and feigned surprise—“food.” I shook my head. “Christ, I don’t know how any of you have survived all this time.”

“Yeah. Get your apron on and run to the market, honey.” Espada snorted, slapping the back of Copper’s head.

Copper shot him a dirty look. “Don’t forget I’m a patched member, asshole.”

I smirked. The ginger dude had sure grown up in the last couple of years. MC wars, death, and danger changed all of us. We just hid our scars well.

“But I’m older, stronger, and outrank you.” Espada rose out of his chair like he was ready to rumble. As the oldest Knight’s Legion member in the house, he often tried to run the show. His age didn’t mean a damn thing to me because I outranked him as an officer. Not to mention I had a title: Road Captain. But I knew he didn’t care about any of that. Regardless, he respected me as he should and backed down when I was around.

The brother just liked to flex his muscles and bully the younger guys because… he could.

“I don’t have time for this.” I stalked toward my bedroom.

“Going somewhere?” Ryder asked while Espada and Copper stared each other down.

“I’m meeting Brynne for coffee.”

Espada darted his gaze at me. “He shouldn’t go alone.”

“I’m not.” I turned toward Ryder. “Be ready.”

“Sí, jefe,” the young prospect replied, earning a growl from Espada.

Fucking Espada. He was right. I shouldn’t be alone with Brynne, but sue me for wanting her all to myself. Of course, my brother hadn’t even considered my forbidden attraction to her. The guys believed I only thought of her as my step-sister. They’d never question if it were more. Why would they when they knew my loyalties to the club, my dad, and Tina? Everyone trusted me to keep Brynne safe.

I’d keep her safe. They didn’t need to worry about that detail.

I wouldn’t touch her, although I’d give anything to sink my cock into her tempting, tight pussy.

See?

Wicked son of a bitch. She was my step-sister, for Christ’s sake.

But in my head, we were two consenting adults who never knew each other until a couple of months ago. Brynne didn’t know her mother was alive or that she was married to my dad. She didn’t know she had a half-brother and sister,myhalf-brother and sister.

No matter how I tried to spin the truth, we were family at the end of the day. Connected by marriage and our younger brother and sister.

Fuck me.

Kill me now.

Put my sorry ass out of misery pronto. Something needed to be done before the lines were broken beyond repair.
