“What hold up?” I scratched the back of my head.

“That’s what the authorities are calling the incident at the convenience store.” Bone shook his head. “The woman’s body was found a few miles west of it. A bullet to her head.”

“Jesus Christ!” I braced my hands on the island and dropped my head. “She was alive when we left her. Ask Espada and Brynne. All I did was backhand her.”

“I believe you, but they’re searching for the two men the clerk at the store saw.” Bone fanned his hands out and shrugged. “I’m going into town to see what the locals are saying. They’re familiar with me. The rest of you should lay low.”

What should I do about Brynne? If I told her Gina was murdered, she’d blame herself.

“I’m going upstairs if anyone needs me.” I grabbed the mugs in one hand and the plate in the other.

“Will do, boss,” Ryder called after me.

Brat.

I’d gone from happy to hating life. Everything was going to shit in a handbasket, and I couldn’t do anything to right the course I was on.

If I was going to hell, I might as well enjoy what little time I had left with Brynne.

Brynne

Time flew by when I was with the guy I’d fallen in love with. This afternoon would’ve been my graduation, the day all college students waited for with bated breath.

I couldn’t care less about wearing my cap and gown or walking across the stage. I’d still get my diploma. But I didn’t need all the pomp and circumstances and festivities. My dad wasn’t going to be there anyway, only Uncle Dorian, and he was the last person I wanted to see.

So what had I been doing with the man of my dreams the last five days?

Having the time of my life.

We binged shows, played strip poker, and had lots of sex. It’d been fabulous except for one thing. I hated lying to Joseph. Each time we had sex, I warred with telling him I wasn’t on birth control. By now, I’d increased my chances of getting pregnant by one thousand percent. That was an over-exaggeration, but I’d be one lucky bitch if I wasn’t already knocked up.

The door swung open, and my sexy Latino strutted in with a tray.

“How’s my Bonita?”

“Just missing you. What’d ya bring me?” I propped up onto my knees on the bed.

“Dessert.” He set the tray in front of me.

“Yum.” My eyes went wide, and I licked my lips. There were strawberries, chocolate syrup, whipped cream, and a jar of maraschino cherries. “These look like the props I saw in a porn movie when I was in middle school.” I thought for a second. “What was it called?” I tapped my finger on my lips.

“Sundae Delight, orBreaking Cherry?”

I gaped. “Yes! It wasSundae Delight! Are we gonna re-enact when ice cream man builds a sundae on the lonely woman’s pussy?”

“I forgot that part, but I’m happy to eat your sweet pussy.”

“I bet you would. How could you forget that part? It was what the whole movie was about.” I laughed and took a bite of a strawberry.

“I kept rewinding the part where he fucked her ass while she sucked the delivery man’s dick. Do you remember, it was covered in whipped cream.” He raised the can from the tray and sprayed some in his mouth.

“We are so made for each other.” I removed my shirt, leaving me in a bra. “We could act out that scene, too, if you want.”

“Fuck no. You aren’t sucking anyone off but me.”

I giggled and threw my arms around his neck. “Good, because I don’t want anyone but you. I don’t want to be a buzz kill, but any news on Dorian?” I tried to not ask about him often, but I was sure he was in town and looking for me.
