“If you want me to come back, I will.”
“I do.”
“Alright, I’ll try not to wake you.” He went to the door.
“I sort of hoped you would.” I tilted my head and batted my lashes. It might sound absurd, but an orgasm was the best stress reliever. During finals, I had masterbated multiple times a day. Those nights had nothing on tonight. I needed Joseph to work me over and help me forget. For a little while, anyway.
“Damn.” He smiled as he closed the door.

I stood outside of Brynne’s bedroom and exhaled. What a fucking clusterfuck tonight had been. I wasn’t looking forward to calling Storm and his dad.
But I couldn’t wait to return to Brynne. Shit, it felt like the lies were getting bigger and bigger. When she found out the truth, both our worlds would come crashing down.
I went down to the kitchen where all the guys were.
“She all squared away?” Bone asked. “Thought you would’ve stayed up there longer.”
“Copper snorted. “At least long enough to tuck her into bed properly.”
Chuckles surrounded me.
“Assholes.” I grabbed the tequila and chugged straight from the bottle.
“We are.” Bone got to his feet. “I already alerted Storm.”
I choked on the booze.
“He’s up and waiting for your call.” Bone stretched and yawned. “I’m hitting the sack. I need my beauty sleep before things get crazy. Nite.”
“I’m going to,” Deacon left next.
I looked at the remaining men. “I want two of you patrolling the property until six in the morning. Then start six-hour shifts.” My brain was chaotic as I tried to think of everything needing to be done.
“I’ll go first,” Cash said.
“I’ll go with him.” Ryder stood and went to the fridge for a can of soda.
“Good.” I took out my phone and dialed the prez’s number.
“Are you okay?” My dad’s voice came through the earpiece instead of Storm’s.
“Yeah. We’re all fine.”
“Jesus, son. What the fuck happened? Bone said Brynne’s in danger?”
“I know, it’s crazy how everything changed. She’s upstairs sleeping.”
“And she came with you on her own?” Storm asked.
“Yep.”
“Fuck, that’s terrific. It might make our mission easier. I mean, less damaging.”
“I doubt that, but we can hope. So tell us everything, mijo.” Dad sounded exhausted. And for a good reason. He was over fifty and rarely stayed up past midnight.
