Perhaps the impending war was what I needed to finally get Nurse Naughty out of my head. None of us could afford to be distracted while defending our territory. There was no telling what the Faceless Frat would do. The last thing I needed was to worry about a woman.

Christ, she would’ve been worth it, though.

Stay the course, man. You’ll never see her again anyway. She’d make sure of it.

True, she had her fucking three-date limit.

Good. I wasn’t so sure I could resist her.

“Thanks for the ride.” Piper opened her door, then stopped. “Is something else going on with you?”

“No, why?”

“Usually, you talk my ear off in the car.” She studied me with a discerning eye. Her dark hair was in a braid, and she wasn’t wearing makeup. She looked so young and innocent when she worked, but I knew better. Her nighttime appearance changed. When she got dolled up, she was so beautiful she could stop traffic. And she was feisty and hardheaded to boot. Lord help the man who fell under her spell.

“Why didn’t you say something?”

“I did. I asked why you were white-knuckling the steering wheel.” She flicked her eyes at my hands. “You’re usually the chill brother.”

“Oh.” I loosened my grip and exhaled a heavy breath.

“What has you deep in thought? Is it the gang?”

“I guess.” Or it was coming to the hospital where Nurse Naughty worked.

“I’ll be okay here.” She patted my arm and got out. “I appreciate you worrying about me.”

“Be vigilant. I’ll watch you go in.”

“Sure. But I doubt anyone would try anything out in the open.”

“Can never be too safe.”

“Right. Bye, Levi.” She shut the door.

I stayed put as I said I would. Of course, I was worried about Piper’s safety, but she wasn’t who occupied my mind. It never occurred to me that coming to the hospital would mess with my head.

Familiar laughter made my ears perk up. I turned to look out of my window—big mistake.

“What the hell?” I hissed. The universe was surely fucking with me.

My heart rate kicked up, and my tongue tingled when I saw her. I knew her taste and the feel of her plump lips around my cock. The softness of her skin and her scent. Why was fate tempting me?

The whys didn’t matter. Unable to resist the blonde bombshell, I hopped out of my car and briskly strutted toward her. No question, I’d regret falling victim to my knee-jerk reaction.

“Hey, how’s it going?” I flashed a mega-watt smile. Fuck me. I was happy to see her.

“Oh. Hi.” She continued toward the staff door, glancing from me to her friend.

“Are you just starting your shift?” I came up to her side.

“Why are you here?”

“My sister works here.”

“Really?” She narrowed her eyes as if she didn’t believe me. “You’ve never mentioned it before.”

“Well, before, we were preoccupied with other more pleasurable things than talking.” I waggled my eyebrows.
