“Hustler is my road name. It’s like a nickname. My birth name is Levi Knight. My family owns the Aeros Casino. I manage a bunch of stuff there, mostly the money.”
“Knight? So the club is a family club?”
“Yeah, you could say that. Over fifty years ago, my granddad and his twin brother started Knight’s Legion MC. It’s grown to three chapters since then. All of them are run by blood relatives.”
“Wow, that’s cool.”
“It is. But you need to know it can be dangerous.”
“What do you mean?”
“We work hard to keep Fargo and the whole state clean and safe. We also piss people off, and they often retaliate.” He kissed my hand. “But I’ll do whatever it takes to protect you and the baby.”
“Wow, okay. That’s a lot to digest.” I studied his handsome face. “Levi, huh? I like it. Can I call you that instead of Hustler?”
“Sure. I actually prefer you call me Levi.”
“You do?”
“Yes. Levi is something only my woman should call me. And my mom.”
“You’re jumping ahead, calling me your woman.” But dang, my heart fluttered regardless.
He stood and lowered his face to mine. “You’re my woman, Hope. I claimed you to my president.” He kissed me softly, lulling me into submission. Or maybe I was still exhausted and didn’t have the strength to fight. “I can’t get enough of these pouty lips.”
Okay, he was definitely pacifying me.
“You report to a president? Do you have a title?”
“My older brother is the president of the club. I’m the treasurer.”
“You must be smart if they let you deal with the money.”
“Exactly. I’m super smart.” He rubbed his nose against mine. “Are you hungry, sweetheart? You should eat.”
“Yeah, I’m hungry, but not for what they’ll bring me.”
“What can I get you?”
“That’s okay.” I liked that he wanted to take care of me. It just felt weird.
“Hope, tell me what you want.”
“A breakfast burrito with bacon from the cafeteria would be amazing. And milk, please.” I tried to not cringe or retract my request. I didn’t like being vulnerable with anyone. As crazy as it sounded, asking for a three-dollar burrito made me feel raw and exposed like he might expect something in return.
“You got it.” He stroked my cheek with his thumb. “I’ll be back in a flash.”
I stared at his backside as he left. He had the best ass. Perfect for holding onto when he fucked me. No doubt Hustler… Levi… was handsome and sexy and charming.
Could we really be a couple?
He claimed you to his president, Hope. He calls you his woman.
A strange feeling spread through my chest. If I put a name to it, I’d call it blissful happiness, something I hadn’t experienced once in my twenty-four years of living.
It was some scary shit.
At the door of my apartment, I peered at Levi behind me. I never brought men to my place. They were only sex, a means to an end, like an orgasm and a blip of affection.
