“Dude, where’s your bedside manners?” I cut my gaze at him, noting the dark circles under his eyes.
“I’m fucking tired and got no time for niceties. The ER has been a madhouse.”
“Not surprising for a Friday night.” I glanced around the bar full of women searching for a good time. They outnumbered the men three to one. Perfect for threesomes. “So why are you here if you’re working?”
“I needed a break. I don’t have much time, but I wanted to talk to you.”
“About what?”
“Hope Parker.”
“I don’t know anyone by that name.” It didn’t even ring a bell.
“Really? She’s a blonde who works at the hospital.”
“Aren’t most of the chicks blondes?” Although, no one held a candle to Nurse Naughty’s beauty.
“Yeah. Well, I guess she didn’t lie. Thought you might’ve hooked up or something.” He reclined in his chair and scratched the back of his head.
Stitch didn’t look like the typical biker. He had a refined appearance, like most doctors. But he knew how to handle a gun and fight. Dad had brought him into the fold after his parents had been killed in a car accident when Brady was a freshman. He and Bone were the same age, and they’d been best friends since elementary school.
My family treated Stitch like another family member. It wasn’t all about blood to the Knights, even though my brothers and I filled every seat on the club’s council.
Something stirred inside me, a weird nudging to find out more about the blonde. Could she bemynurse?
“I’ve hooked up with a few at the hospital. But there’s one I’ve been with several times. I don’t know her name. What does the chick look like?”
“Average height, blonde and pretty. I try not to check out the nurses. It’s bad practice.”
“You truly are a boy scout under the leather cut,” I snorted. “I need more than blonde and pretty.”
“Hope’s sassy and doesn’t take shit from anyone. Her eyes might be green.”
“That sounds like Nurse Naughty.” I sat forward, more interested than before. And more determined to know if it was my nurse or not.
“Nurse Naughty?” He raised his eyebrows.
“She never gave me her full name.” I hadn’t cared. Names were too personal and not needed to have a righteous fuck. “What’d she say about me?”
“All I caught was your name and that you wouldn’t want something.”
“Not want what?” If she meant her, she would be wrong. I’d told her I wanted to date her despite knowing she had a three-date limit. I’d be the first to make it to four, then a dozen… one hundred, and so on. “When was this?”
“The other day. I don’t know what she meant. I interrupted her, then she gave me attitude.”
“Sounds like my nurse.” I couldn’t help but smile.
“Your nurse? Then you won’t like hearing another man put his hands on her.”
“Who?” Rage bubbled inside me. A possessiveness I’d never experienced before exploded in my chest.
“Some guy named Scotty. He’d gotten rough with her in the parking lot. I went to help when he grabbed her by the arm. It sounded like they’d been together. He called her a cunt, and she slapped him. Before I could do anything, he shoved her onto the pavement.”
“Fuck, brother. And you’re just now telling me this!”
“I’ve been busy at work. This was the first chance I could get away. She’s okay. Just scuffed up.”
“You could’ve called.”
