“Shouldn’t you be in school?” Darla blocked the door.
“I graduated, not that it’s any of your business. Please move.”
Darla sneered. “He’s just using you, little girl. Men like the Knights don’t have old ladies. They’re the love them and leave them kind.”
“You’re just jealous.” She didn’t know anything about Abe. “Move out of my way.” I wouldn’t play her game. Abe loved me.
I inhaled a deep breath, touching my engagement ring.
Darla’s gaze dropped to my hand. “Oh yeah, I heard about you and Cobra getting married. But he hasn’t claimed you in the club yet, so he’s free game. And even after.” She tittered and dropped her cigarette on the ground, before she snuffed it out with the toe of her heel. “I’ve been with him, you know.”
“My God, you’re such a bitch.” I hated this cunt. She was just trying to get a rise out of me, lying about being with Abe. “And pathetic, it’s no wonder none of the guys have claimed you.”
Unfortunately, she wasn’t totally wrong. Abe had kept putting off claiming me because his brothers were giving him shit about it, mostly Micah and Silas. I understood Abe’s feelings. He wanted his brothers’ support, regardless of how they felt about me. Still, he needed to be decisive and a leaderandnot pussy out on his promise to me.
Great, now I was getting worked up.
“I’m pathetic?” Darla laughed, snorting to herself. “No, honey. You are, because you don’t have a clue about what bikers are really like. Right now, Cobra is upstairs fucking my friend.”
My heart slammed into my ribs. Abe wasn’t fucking her friend. He’d never cheat on me, never betray me.
I shoved the bitch out of the way and went inside. Music played in the bar, but no one was around. I ran up the stairs. Abe’s bedroom was at the end of the hallway. He and his brothers sometimes slept at the clubhouse, usually with a woman…
I held my stomach. With each step, dread spread through my chest.
Then I heard it.
Heard the squeaking of the bed. It sounded just like when we had sex.
She moaned.
“Fuck, yeah!” he yelled.
My heart stalled as I stopped at Abe’s door.
“Yes, Cobra. Harder!” she screamed.
“Abe!” I grabbed ahold of the doorknob, finding it locked. I pounded on the door, my whole world crashing down on me. “Goddammit, no!”
Silence.
Giggles.
Whispers.
I banged my hand harder on the door, not sure what I expected. If he didn’t open the door after hearing me, he wasn’t going to.
I pressed my hand flat on the door, sick to my stomach and utterly devastated.
“Okay, you bastard! I’ll show you!” I ran with my heart in my throat out of the clubhouse.
Darla’s laughter raked down my spine like nails on a chalkboard. As much as I’d love to choke the bitch, I had to get away before crumpling into a pathetic pile of tears. No chance I’d show my brokenness to that wench. Or allowed Abe to catch up to me and lie his way out of fucking another girl.
What was I thinking?
He obviously didn’t give a rat’s ass about me.
I got in my car and started it. My hands shook as my throat constricted, and my heart died. I turned my gaze to his beloved Harley, his pride and joy. The hatred I felt for him turned my soul black. Perhaps Iwaspathetic and too young to have fallen in love with Abe—a cheating, lying biker. I had believed he loved me and that we were perfect for each other.
