Where in the fuck were Storm and my lawyer? I’d been in this goddamn room for over half an hour and out of my mind with worry. My gut told me Jaynee left with that fucker, Richard.
I didn’t need her protection. She needed mine.
The door opened.
I rolled my hands into fists on the table. “About fucking time, Prez.”
“Stay calm, brother.” He sat across from me.
“Right, as if you would stay calm in my situation.”
Storm grunted. “You remember, Theo?”
I looked at the suit. “Yeah. Whatever you have to do to get me out of here, do it.”
“Not that simple, man.” Storm put his elbows on the table and leaned toward me. “If Richard presses assault charges, you could be in here for ninety days.”
I cut my gaze at Theo. He nodded.
“Fuck!” I squeezed my head between my hands. When it came to those I loved, I did what was necessary to protect them. I didn’t fear jail time. I only wanted to protect the innocent. One too many times, the law had failed my mom and me when they let my old man go after he beat the shit out of my mom.
Tonight, I’d reacted with a punch, literally, to protect my woman and peanut. The helplessness I’d felt as a kid had rushed back, and I attacked the motherfucker. My only regret was doing it in front of witnesses. Had it only been Richard and me, I might have killed him.
Storm cleared his throat as if to get my attention. “He won’t press charges if you agree to stay away from Jaynee and Sadie.”
My innards twisted into a massive knot. “You know I won’t stay away. They’re mine.”
Storm sighed, reclining back in his chair. “I know. But we can’t force her to stay, brother. She left on her own. Do your time. We’ll help get them back after you get out.”
“Are you out of your goddamn mind? Kill the motherfucker before he takes them.” I didn’t give a shit if my lawyer heard us. Theo could be trusted. “Richard fucking manipulated her to go with him.”
“I know. But our hands are tied. It’ll come back on the club.”
I knew Storm was right. It wasn’t my intention to bring trouble to the club’s door, but we were talking about my woman and peanut. Hell, I already thought of Sadie as my little girl.
I teared up as I thought of my girls being with that bastard. If he laid a finger on either of them, I’d go ballistic. Jaynee had said he never touched them. It better stay that way.
I exhaled a tense breath. “What about the murder charges?”
Storm turned toward Theo, giving him a nod to do his job.
Theo opened a folder and removed the same document Richard had at the club. “His claims are disputable. If we went to court, the judge would throw out the case. My guess is, he was blowing smoke just to get on the compound. Then you assaulted him in front of multiple witnesses and the sheriff.”
I dragged my hands down the sides of my face. “Fucker tricked me into reacting.”
“Yep.” Storm glared at me. “You fell hook, line, and sinker.”
I tilted my head back and stared at the ceiling. “Shit.”
“There’s more.”
The concern in Storm’s voice put me on alert. “What?”
Prez slid a business card on the table toward me.
