“Should you be flirting with the prez’s woman?” a deep male voice asked.
I turned my head to the left. Raul and Tina were standing at the end of the bar. Raul’s dark eyes were narrowed at Copper.
“Just talking to her.” Copper backed away from the bar with a nervous glint in his green eyes.
Raul took a stool next to Tina. “Two drafts.”
“When did you get back?” I perked up. If the VP was here, my man should be too. “Is Storm back?”
“No. He’s finishing up some stuff. Should be back in a couple of hours.”
“A couple of hours?” I glanced at the clock hanging on the mirror behind the bar. “It’s after nine. I wanted to go home to grab a few things. Storm said he’d take me. I have nothing here.”
Not to mention tonight would be the third night I haven’t taken my birth control. Storm would just have to use a condom, which he’d hate, but it was his own fault for putting me on lockdown with the rest of his club. Could have packed a bag if I’d been planning to stay this long.
“I can take her home.” Copper placed two beers in front of Raul and Tina.
“No,” Raul muttered.
“Please. If Storm is keeping me here, I need some of my things. I’m going out of my mind. I don’t have my laptop or even a book to read. My makeup is at home and otherpersonalitems.” I looked at Tina for reinforcement.
“What could it hurt?” Tina cooed to Raul.
“We won’t go anywhere else, just to my house and back. It shouldn’t take more than an hour, tops.”
“Storm wants you to stay here.” Raul shot me a stern look.
“Well, then he should’ve taken me to get an overnight bag. This is ridiculous.” I grabbed my phone off the bar and dialed Storm. “I’m calling him now.”
Raul groaned, drinking down his beer.
It rang and rang. I hadn’t bothered Storm once, knowing he was busy and stressed. But honestly, the one time I called, he should answer.
“This is utter bullshit.” I set my phone down in front of me.
“I’m sure Tina has some clothes you can borrow.”
I narrowed my eyes at Raul. “I want my own shit.” I took a gulp of my drink. “Well, I’ll tell you this, Storm will have to wrap up his dick, or he isn’t getting between my legs.”
Raul choked on his beer.Good. “Fuck. What’s that supposed to mean?”
“If you must know, it means I don’t have my birth control here. I don’t think Storm wants a kid right now.” I glanced at Copper, who was smiling.
“Fine,” Raul growled. “Take her, and be quick about it.” He pointed his finger at the ginger across from me.
“Thank you. I’ll just run up and grab my purse.”
“So bartending is a step up from cleaning toilets and washing the execs’ bikes? How long were you doing the menial shit?” I yelled from behind Copper. We were on our way back to the compound. Riding on another man’s bike felt oddly like a betrayal, which was dumb. Maybe because my arms were wrapped around his waist the way I held onto Storm, only looser. But I had to hold onto him, so I wouldn’t fall off the bike.
“Too damn long. I’m hoping to get patched in soon,” Copper yelled back.
“Did you always want to be in an MC?”
He laughed as we turned onto the dirt road leading to the entrance gate. “No, babe. A biker wasn’t what I wanted to be when I was a little kid.”
I considered him for a moment. He didn’t seem to be hiding behind a brick wall like many of the others. I appreciated his candor. He made me feel comfortable going to get my things and hadn’t stopped talking since.
Copper continued through to his parking spot after Dodge let us pass. Once he turned the engine off, he twisted partly around to help me with my helmet.
