“I don’t… st… stutter.”
“See.”
“Sh… shit.” I inhaled a breath, trying to calm my nerves. “I can see the compound. There’s fencing around it with barbed wire and an armed guard at the gate. Fuck!”
“Give me your location!”
“We went north out of town, turned left on highway ten, drove for like five miles… I think, then turned right on another dirt road.”
“Which one?”
“It didn’t have a sign. There are lots of woods.”
“That tells me nothing!”
The armed guard at the gate talked to the Latino, then he waved me in. The large man had a menacing scowl and a big ass rifle. Or a machine gun. Hell, I didn’t know anything about guns. They all looked the same: big, long, small, black, silver….
“Mads, are you listening to me?” Tara’s shrill voice scraped down my spine.
“I’m here. You’d never get through with the scary-ass biker guarding the gate.” I inhaled a few more deep breaths as I parked my car next to the Latino’s bike.
“Jesus, Mads. I’m fucking scared for you.”
“I’ll be okay.” I hoped. “Storm won’t hurt me. Besides, it’s my own damn fault for bringing him home with me last weekend. But I’m wise to him now, and I plan to tell him off.”
“Let’s go,” the Latino yelled, banging his knuckles on my window.
“Wish me luck.”
“You’re right. Storm won’t hurt you. Not after what I heard going on in your bedroom.”
It was only sex for goodness’ sake. Honestly, sometimes Tara had a one-track mind.
“I’ll call you in a little bit. Bye.” I tucked my phone into my purse and sat there, hoping my racing heart would slow down. I didn’t need to go into cardiac arrest and die on an MC’s compound. My mother would flip her shit, losing another child.
The three bikers stared at me with their arms crossed. The prospect, AJ, didn’t look half as menacing as the other two. Maybe he would help me if I got into trouble.
Probably not.
AJ’s loyalties were to Storm and the club. I was on my own.
Shit, shit, shit. All I could do was pray Storm wouldn’t hurt me, and I’d have all my fingers to enter the pin on my phone to call Tara. Or I guess I could use my nose if they chopped my digits off for some insane reason…

Storm
The fucker kissed her hand. He touched her. Deputy fuckin’ Miller.
I’ll kill him.
Sure, Madeline looked pissed and pulled out of his grasp, but they looked like they knew each other. Didn’t take long to put two and two together. She never once mentioned her ex, Dane, was in law enforcement.
Why didn’t she tell me? She wasn’t a stupid woman. She had to know how important this kind of information would be to me.
I slammed my hand down on the bar, seething. Why the fuck didn’t she tell me?
“You need to calm down. She’ll be in here shortly.” Track eyed me from his stool. I hadn’t taken my eyes off the main gate’s monitor. I didn’t want to miss Madeline arriving with her escorts, Hero, Wolf, and AJ.
