I freaking lost it, tugging her into my arms. She let me hold her, and damn she felt amazing in my arms. Smelled good too. Fresh and soft. There was no other way to describe it. She wasn’t drenched in perfume like some women. It was all Madeline, just as I remembered.
This was where I should confess the dude following her was one of my guys. But I didn’t. “Let’s go check it out.”
Madeline nodded, staying tucked into my side.
“Anything else going on?” I was curious if she’d admit to a Hunter being at her house. Madeline seemed to be an honest person, but had a hard time trusting people.
“Dirty Hunters have been in town a lot this last week. One of them stopped at my place today. Said he was checking out the town. Asked if we’d show him around.”
I fisted my left hand and bit down on my back molars. Fucking Hunters were praying on unsuspecting women—on my woman.
Their game was prostitution. Knights didn’t allow that shit in our territory. If people wanted to pay for sex, they’d have to go elsewhere for it. Goddammit, this pissed me off.
“Did you give him your number?”
Her baby blues flashed as we exited the store. Oh, she looked pissed.
“What do you take me for, a stupid woman? Hell no, I didn’t give him my number or name. I have a brain, biker jerk.” She pushed out of my arms and hot-footed it toward her car.
God, this woman turned me on. I loved her fire.
“I know you’re not stupid, Angel.” I trotted after her.
“Don’t call me that.”
“Will you slow your ass down.” I reached out and took her hand, spinning her around.
“No! Just stay there and make sure I get into my car safely. I don’t need anything else from you.”
“I beg to differ, darlin’.” I reached my hand up to her face.
She swatted it away. “Screw you, Storm.” She took off running, and what did I do? I ran after her. This woman had me by the balls and didn’t even know it. She would never know it.
“Why the hell are you running from me?” I caught up to her, grabbed her by the arms, and pushed her against the side of her car. “Fuckin’ stop already.”
She gasped, mouth popping open. “Let go of me.” Her eyes were wild with fury as she struggled to break free from my hands.
Not happening.
“I need to talk to you,” I told her as calmly as possible. Damn woman made my heart race. My alpha side screamed to be set free. To unleash holy hell on her pert ass. I fuckin’ needed to hold it together. Forcing Madeline to do anything wouldn’t end well.
“No.”
“Goddammit, woman. If you don’t settle the fuck down, I’m gonna tan your hide so red, you won’t be able to sit for a month!”
She froze, her baby blues assessing me. “You wouldn’t.” Her voice dripped with disdain.
“The fuck I wouldn’t. Sometimes a good spanking is needed to tame a wild woman such as yourself.”
She pushed out her chin defiantly. “I’d press charges. Assault. Then I’d get a restraining order.”
I growled like the savage animal I was, narrowing the gap between us. “Nothing could keep me away if I wanted you.”
“Well then, I have nothing to worry about because you don’t want me.”
“The fuck I don’t.” I crushed my mouth to hers. Warmth spread across my chest. There was nothing better than having Madeline in my arms, kissing me back through her soft moans. Every hair on my scalp stood at attention, every skin cell tingled, every neuron fired.
I needed this woman in my life. Despite my fear of not being good enough, the shame I carried from my past, or the danger being with me could bring her, I needed her.
