“Right this way,” Blondie said.
We followed her, which was a bummer. Her pert ass swayed from side to side like a brass pendulum. No way would I risk stealing a glance at Storm. His eyes were probably locked on her squeezable bottom. Dane’s would have been, so I assumed Storm’s was too.
It’d taken six months of being blind and stupid before I learned Dane had been cheating on me. A couple of months later, I’d figured out how he picked up women while we were out. Dane had been getting phone numbers while I went to the bathroom or when he’d refill his popcorn in the theater.
He’d always been a little too happy to swing by the market on his way home. The nights Dane had “worked late,” he wasn’t at the office. The mornings he’d been up before the sun for “a five-mile run,” he wasn’t running. I’d fallen for all his lies.
All this now hit a little too close to home.
I faced forward as Storm commanded attention throughout the saloon. Men and women equally noticed him. I wasn’t surprised in the least. He was seemed slightly taller than my brother’s six foot frame. A lot broader and muscular too. His surly expression could stop traffic. He had this aura about him that saidFuck with me and you’ll be sorry.
Why was I here with him?
His mood had noticeably changed. Just before we’d entered the restaurant, he’d been playful. I distinctly felt the shift, putting me more on edge. I should’ve never agreed to dinner.
“Here we are. Trina will be your server.” Blondie deposited menus on the table. “Can I get you anything else?” she sidled up next to Storm as I dropped into one side of the booth.
I sighed, rolling my eyes. The fun evening I’d hoped for took a swift nosedive.
“Nothing for me. What about you, baby?” Storm slid in next to me.
“What’re you doing?” I glanced from him to the spot across from me where his menu was placed.
“Think I’d let you sit alone? Don’t want dudes thinking you’re available.” His hand cupped my neck, and his perfect lips smashed mine.
“Okay then…” Blondie huffed, stomping away.Good.
“These lips are the best appetizer I’ve ever had.” Storm nibbled and licked. “What happened to you? I felt you tense and shut down.”
“I don’t know what you’re talking about.”Liar.
“Right. I won’t push.” He took my hand and kissed the top, then the palm. I couldn’t help but squirm as his beard tickled my skin.
“Storm… People are watching.”
“I don’t give a fuck, Angel. Let them be jealous.”
“Jealous? Jesus, you are a cocky S.O.B., aren’t you?”
“I’m here with you, Madeline. Men and women alike will be jealous ofme.”
“Oh, jeez.” I shook my head. Yeah, men and women would be jealous ofmebecause they’d wish they were in my boots.
“Hi! I’m Trina,”anotherperky blonde said with a high-pitched chipper voice. “What can I get you to drink?”
Storm didn’t turn away from me. He simply twirled a loose lock of my hair around his index finger.
“Heineken draft.” Storm’s gaze dropped to my lips. “What about you, beautiful?”
“Rum and coke, please.” I smiled at our server, gawking at Storm. My body trembled under his intense stare and I squeezed my thighs together.
“Be right back with those.”
“You’re making me nervous and being rude to the server.”
“I like making you shiver and clench.” He pecked my lips. “Don’t care about no one else.” He brushed his lips across mine. “Do you believe me?”
“Sure, I believe you.” A little,maybe.
