I bobbed my head. “I will be once I’m with Will again.”

“Then you better get going.” He ran his finger along my cheek softly. I would miss this handsome, caring man. But it was better to have a clean break from him. This way, he could find his person like I had found mine… my Will.

“Right. Take care, Derek.”

“You too, sweetheart.”

Axel assisted me in boarding the jet. As the plane rose into the clouds, I watched Spokane fade away into the distance. I never wanted to return there again. My place was in California with Will. He was my home.

I flitted my gaze to Axel’s, which never seemed to leave me while I was in his presence. “They’re not going to hurt him, are they?”

“Just scare the shit out of him.”

“You promise?”

Axel gave me a short nod. This morning, I’d told him about Alastair grabbing my wrist and hurting me. I’d also told Derek that Brea liked Alastair, and Derek nearly went off the deep end. But I’d assured him Axel had talked to his biker friends, and they were going to have a chat with Alastair before they left town. I only wanted to be sure they wouldn’t beat him up. Norris, Wolf, and the prospect didn’t look too friendly, but they had sure been protective and gentle when dealing with me.

After the longest three-hour flight of my life, Axel announced Will had woken up and asked for me. Naturally, I couldn’t help but smile. My man was going to be okay, and I was eternally grateful.

I wanted to put the last four months behind me, forget all the pain, lies, and tears. I only wanted to be happy and begin my life with Will.

37 Will

HER HAIR SHIMMERED like gold thread in the morning sunlight. I admired her flawless fair skin and perfect pink lips. There wasn’t a wrinkle or crease of worry anywhere to be found on her beautiful face.

I put my hand on her growing stomach and greet our baby girl, stroking my thumb tenderly over Miranda’s baby bump.

A soft hum filled my ears and my heart expanded. I pressed my lips to Miranda’s temple and whispered, “It’s house-shopping day.”

She reached her hand toward my face. Her large diamond engagement ring caught the light, and a kaleidoscope of colors and shapes bounced off the walls. I enjoyed the show each morning since I proposed to Miranda last week. Nothing made me happier once I was released from the hospital than my beauty saying yes.

“It’s also dress-shopping day, handsome. I’m supposed to meet the girls at three.” She lightly cradled my face. “Do you think we’re rushing the wedding?”

I rubbed her belly, which was a little bigger than it was a few weeks ago. Before Jason had nearly killed me and taken Miranda.

“Not at all. I thought you wanted us to be married before this little princess arrives.” Last week, we had the gender confirmed. We were having a girl and I was ecstatic about it.

I spooned Miranda closer. One more week, I’d have the all-clear to make love to her again. She’d been adamant we obey doctor’s orders. It had been a struggle, but I knew she was only worried about my well-being. I would never fault her for loving me so deeply.

“I do. But I don’t want to be a blimp on our wedding day either.”

I laughed. “Swollen with our child should not be reduced to you being a blimp. You’re gorgeous, M. Always was, always will be.”

“Do we really have to leave this bed today?” She sighed, rubbing her hands over mine.

She hadn’t once left my side. Not even returning to work was enough to tempt her away from me. She said she needed more time. I knew she did. She had nightmares about Jason and being locked in the closet. If Norris hadn’t shot him, I would have killed him with my own hands.

Jason Sayton was a sick man. Axel told me what they’d found when they arrived at the shack. Jason was in a pool of blood with a gun in his hand. He’d fired it twice, missing Norris and Derek. Norris didn’t show mercy with one bullet to his heart.

It made me sick to think about what Jason had planned for Miranda. If Derek and Norris hadn’t arrived when they did, my girl could have been destroyed. Handcuffs were attached to the bedpost and candles were lit around the small bedroom. There was also a syringe found on the bed. We assumed Jason had been preparing to drug Miranda and have his way with her. Sick fuck.

“Not if you don’t want to, baby. I can call the realtor and cancel, but I thought we agreed to buy a new home, a family-friendly home.”

“We did. And I want a new home. I just like being here in your arms.”

I cuddled her closer. “Whatever you want, M, I’ll do it.”

She twisted around in my arms and batted her lashes. I loved the mischief in her pretty blue eyes. Her hand wrapped around my cock through my boxers.
