Breck moved in closer and sank his hands into Kai’s silky hair. “Good,” he mumbled, eyeing Kai’s mouth. “Wasn’t in the mood to have to ask for permission.” Going for it, he fused their lips.
Kai stilled, then gripped Breck’s wrists as if readying to stop him.
No. Don’t. Breck deepened the kiss. He didn’t want Kai to pull away.
And what do you know, his efforts paid off. Kai loosened his grip, his body easing. Relaxing, softening, as Breck pressed against his frame. Every inch of Breck thrummed in pleasure. He’d wanted to do this for so damn long. Since the night he’d crushed his lips to Kai’s after nearly attacking him. A memory that, in truth, still had him cringing. He couldn’t believe he’d treated him that way.
The music crooned on as they kissed, their lips moving unhurriedly, their tongues in a sultry dance. Heaven. Kai’s mouth was heaven. A soft moan stirred at the back of Breck’s throat. He could do this shit forever, pressed against Kai’s body in the candlelight.
All too soon, though, Kai severed their kiss, using his grip on Breck’s wrists to ease him away.
Breck stared at him, half dazed, the flickering light on Kai’s face a spell. Luring him back. Drawing him in. He needed more. He hadn’t been finished. He went for Kai’s lips again, but Kai stopped him, his expression torn.
“I don’t think it’s wise to get carried away.” He sounded as drunk as Breck currently felt.
Breck scowled. “Like what we just did wasn’t getting carried away?”
Kai smiled a little. “Yes, but that was—”
“Pretend,” Breck bit out. “Yes. I know. You keep fucking reminding me.” Sighing, he dropped his hands. But then his troubled mind shifted gears. Peering into Kai’s eyes, he asked point blank, “The rope tie you did on me… You’re going to do that on another guy?”
Kai regarded him, then inclined his head. “Yes.”
Breck’s gut clenched. His frown deepened. “And he’ll be naked.”
Again, Kai confirmed with a nod.
Breck exhaled and averted his gaze, an uncomfortable ache welling deep in his chest. The thought of Kai with another man was suddenly unbearable. But what could he do? What could he say? They weren’t a couple. No commitments to each other whatsoever. And Breck didn’twanta commitment. So, what was his problem?
“Breck.”
Reluctantly, Breck met Kai’s eyes. He felt like an idiot for revealing his emotions. The last thing he needed was for Kai to view him as needy. To his surprise though, Kai’s expression had shifted, his eyes holding a soft, reassuring light. Breck sank into them, tossing away all lifelines. He wanted to vanish inside their depths and never return.
“I’ll only be tying him, nothing more,” he assured.
Breck held his gaze—then his loose-ass fucking lips just started flapping. “But you’ll be touching him. And, shit, I dunno… It’s like… just the thought of that’s making me crazy.” He fidgeted, then loosed a groan. “Jesus, now my stomach feels fucking sick.”
Kai’s lips quirked endearingly. He pulled Breck closer. Rested his forehead against his and sighed. Cheeks heating, Breck closed his eyes. He couldn’t believe he’d just voiced that shit. Evidently, he had a possessive side that really, reallywanted Kai to call off his show. Thank God Kai wasn’t mocking him for his shameful display.
Instead, Kai settled his hands on Breck’s shoulders, then slid them up and palmed his head behind his ears. Soothingly, he stroked his thumbs back and forth. Short moments later though, they abruptly stilled. As if a thought had occurred to him. Pulling back, he grinned. “You should come with me. To see for yourself that it’s not how you think.”
Breck eyed him dubiously. “What, you mean go to that district place?”
“Yeah. You can go as my guest.”
Breck frowned. “But I wouldn’t bewithyou. You’d be center stage doing your show.”
“Well, yes…” Kai agreed with that. “But we could always go beforehand. Tomorrow. Walk around, check things out. That way, when we return the next night for the show, you’ll be more familiar. More comfortable with just hanging out as I do my thing.”
Breck shook his head, aghast. “Someone would recognize me.”
“Not if your face is covered.”
“You mean, like a mask?” Breck asked incredulously. “Wouldn’t that just attractmorefucking attention?”
Kai snorted. “Uh, no. Head coverings are quite the norm. And technically they’re not masks as much as hoods. Both Doms and subs like to wear them, but predominantly subs. Which, incidentally”—his grin turned wry—“is what you’d be posing as.”
Breck grunted. “Ah. More pretending. With me going as your ‘guest’ equating to me going as your ‘sub.’”
