“He stays. Remi is finally warming up to him.”

“Happy someone is,” I muttered. “Fucker is still scary as hell.”

Reaper grinned. “Exactly.”

“You want confirmation?”

“Your word is good enough.”

“Really?” I challenged petulantly. “You sure about that because your actions have told me different lately.”

Reaper cursed. “Fuck, you’re going to hold that shit over my head, aren’t you?”

“You were going to kill me!” I shouted.

Reaper rolled his eyes as Ghost smirked. “Told you.”

Sighing, Reaper said. “Fine. Okay. What do you want? An apology? Pigs will fly before that happens. Tell me what it’s going to take so we can move past this?”

Crossing my arms over my chest I looked at Reaper, thinking of what I wanted. I got why he did what he did but he had his blades out. That shit wasn’t funny at all and it didn’t absolve him from being a dick. I got that he has a lot on his plate. We all do but that didn’t give him the right to do what he did. Though his apology to my woman went a long way to smooth things over, I wasn’t ready to forgive him.

The only fucking problem I foresaw was that I never stayed angry long. Like right now, yeah, I was still a little pissed at him but not in a killing rage pissed.

My rage burned like a flash fire.

Burned hot then fizzled out fast.

The longer I looked at my President, a small trickle of an idea formed. It was nothing bad, but it did put a smile on my face.

Ghost started laughing, “Oh fuck. You’ve done it now Reaper. Look at the big bastard. He’s thought of something.”

“Shit,” Reaper cursed, stepping away from the door standing up straight. “Okay, Savage. What is it? Lay it on me?”

Grinning from ear to ear, I had just told him what I wanted when Jess flung the door open, knocking Reaper forward.

Ghost and I laughed hard.

“What the hell is going on in here?” Jess asked.

“Nothing baby,” I chuckled, grabbing my bags. “You ready to get this shit show on the road?”

Jess looked at all three of us. When her eyes landed on mine, she placed her hands on her hips, cocked her head and narrowed her eyes. “Why do I get the feeling that you are up to no good?”

“Who me?” I said, affronted and grabbing my bags, throwing them over my shoulder. “I’m as innocent as a lamb.”

“Lambs taste good roasted over a spit, Savage. Remember that.” She said, before doing an about face and walking away.

Following her, I grinned. “Bloodthirsty. Love it.”

It took us three days to make it to Florida.

The trip was long, exhausting and painful.

From the moment we left, Jess made my life a living hell. Apparently, my woman wasn’t as forgiving as I was. She was determined to drive me insane. For starters, I’d never seen a woman pee so much in my damn life. My woman had me stopping every two fucking hours, just so she could stretch her legs and relieve herself. That wouldn’t have bothered me so much if she’d had let me pick the radio station. Good tunes were necessary on a road trip. But did she let me have control of the radio? Fuck no! I was forced to listen to every fucking eighties radio station around. Then, there were the insipid road games, discussions about every romantic comedy movie ever made and her refusal to sleep in the vehicle.

That I got because I was so looking forward to our first overnight stay. Too bad she refused to share a room with me. Well, I shut that shit down fast because there was no fucking way, she was sleeping alone. Well, she slept alone. I got the uncomfortable chair in the room.

By the time we pulled into the Florida compound, I was ready to strangle her. Turning off the engine, I couldn’t wait to get away from her. The woman drove me to drink.
