“What’s going on?” Giovanni asked, looking at both of us.
“Nothing. Forget about it,” Lorenzo said, taking a seat.
“It’s not nothing. You are being childish.”
“Me!” he shouted, getting to his feet again, moving closer to me. “You give me a pity kiss, like it makes everything better? Well, it doesn’t. It makes things worse.”
“It was not a pity kiss!” I shouted back, stomping my foot for effect. Yeah, I know that was childish but look at the pot calling the kettle black. When in Rome, right?
“Wait,” Gio interrupted, holding his hand up. “Lorenzo kissed you?”
I blushed. “No, I kissed him.”
Marko grinned and said, “Gio, you owe me fifty bucks.”
Gio groaned, reaching for his wallet then handed Marko money.
“You two had a bet on me?” Lorenzo yelled at them.
“Yep,” Marko smiled, pocketing his newfound wealth. “The whole family did. I was the only one who bet that Donnie would be the one to kiss you first. The rest of them, bet on you. But I knew Donnie had spunk and I knew she would be the one to make the first move.”
“All of you are assholes,” Lorenzo growled.
Looking at Marko, I stated, “We will be talking about that later. Now, back to the matter at hand.”
“There is nothing to discuss.”
“Yes, there is. I didn’t give you a pity kiss you insufferable oaf. If you must know, I don’t even know what a pity kiss is. You were my first kiss, asshole!”
If it weren’t for the plane’s engines, I could hear a pin drop in the cabin. Instead, everyone said nothing. No one moved, not even Lorenzo as he stared at me in shock. Yeah, I get it. It wasn’t every day he learned that he was someone’s first kiss. I wasn’t ashamed of it, not in the least. In fact, I wouldn’t be opposed to heading back to the bedroom and trying again. You know, practice makes perfect and all that shit.
Instead, Lorenzo grabbed me and pulled me close. So, close our noses touched. “What do you mean I was your first kiss?”
“Uh, I don’t think that needs further explanation. I never kissed anyone before.”
“That’s impossible.”
“Not really. Have you not seen what I look like? I’m really not beauty queen material.”
“You are perfect,” he whispered, before slamming his mouth down on mine.
Eighteen
Lorenzo
There is always a moment in everyone’s life that is a game-changer. That one moment that puts life into perspective. For me, it was hearing that I was Donatella’s first kiss. I don’t know why hearing her say those words had such a profound effect on me but they did. In that instant I knew I wanted to be the only one to touch her lips, to hold her hand, to have her under me, over me and with me for the rest of my life.
I know I sounded like an idiot and if I am being honest, I probably am but after everything we’d both been through, I knew she was it for me. She was the one woman I wanted to argue with, kiss, make laugh and cry with. I wanted her in my life in every way I could. The only problem with that was when I kissed her after hearing her say what she did, she up and slapped my face and kicked me in the balls… again.
Yeah, my baby girl had a fucking temper on her.
If she only knew how much that turned me on.
Instead, she was sitting opposite Giovanni, while I was on the other side of the cabin between Marko and Enzo.
Not exactly where I wanted to be but hey, I could look at her. So, I’m calling that a win in my book. As for my balls, they had yet to descend and I feared she actually did damage this time. Of course, I knew she didn’t mean it. I know she felt something when I kissed her. She responded for a split second before her fighting nature took hold. I wasn’t worried, though. I’d never met a woman who could resist my charms. Too easy in my book. I just had to put my best foot forward and wear her down.
Easy-peasy.
