“I want to be the one who kills him.”

“And you will be after I know everything, he knows. Now, tell me. How did you leave things with Reaper?”

Sighing, I leaned back and said, “Not good. There was a club meeting. A bunch of shit was said. I wasn’t really paying attention to most of it until someone mentioned Hughes. Hearing what Sypher and Phantom said, I just couldn’t anymore. I was going to leave my cut on the table right then and there. Reaper and Ghost asked me to think about it before I made my decision.”

“But you’ve already made it, haven’t you?”

My cousin knew me well. I thought I knew what I was going to do, but I didn’t realize it until we arrived home. It was then, I knew what I had to do.

Nodding, I said nothing as he leaned against his desk and sighed. “Have you told Catarina yet?”

“No.”

“For what it’s worth, I think you are making the right decision. The family will support you no matter what. You arefamigliaand always will be.”

“Thanks, Gio.”

A soft knock at the door had me turning as Layla walked in. “Oh, Hi Player.”

“Layla.”

“Gio, when you get a minute, I need to talk to you.”

“Okay,Tesoro. I will find you when Reggie and I are finished.”

When the door closed, I said, “She looks good.”

“She has her good and bad days, but yes, she is better.”

“And the wedding?”

Gio sighed, rubbing his hands down his face. “She hasn’t set a date yet. What about you?”

“I haven’t asked.”

Gio chuckled. “Aren’t we a pair?”

Catarina

I got a little worried when Giovanni took Reggie away, seeing that something was bothering him. He seemed fine on the plane and looked happy when we arrived, but he changed the moment we stepped into the house. He became tense and shut himself off from everyone.

It wasn’t like him.

I’d seen him around his family long enough to know that he loved every one of them and loved being around them, yet it felt as if he would rather be somewhere else.

I wanted to help him, but I didn’t know how.

In California, he had his club brothers to keep him occupied. They did things differently than the family, and though I didn’t understand most of them, they seemed to know him well. I was starting to wonder if the family really knew Reggie. Would being here help him to return to the man I once knew? Then again, he wasn’t the same man.

The man I once loved was gone, just like I was no longer that young, naive girl. Time had changed us both. I knew deep down I still loved Reggie, and nothing would ever change that. He was still the man I wanted to spend the rest of my life with.

“Catarina?” Illyria said, getting my attention. “Are you okay?”

“Yes,” I quickly responded.

“Reggie will be right back. Gio won’t keep him long.”
