Rounding on Axel, I added. “And I’m pissed at you. You could have told Dwayne and me who you were.”
Axel shook his head. “Gio didn’t want me to.”
“Well, Gio ain’t here!” I shouted.
Sighing, Shadow said, “Player. Calm down. We are here to help. We want to help. Several of the brothers never wanted to do shit the legal way, but it wasn’t our decision. Reaper is the President for a reason. Shit happened, and it didn’t work. Now we can do it the way we should have from the beginning. Let us help you get Colin back. Besides, if I am correct, you can also expect Gator, Chisel, and Ink to show up soon.”
“Ink and Chisel are still recovering from rescuing Layla.”
“They are healed enough and tired of being under Healer’s watchful eyes. They want some action.”
“Great,” I muttered, trying to calm my nerves. The fact was I was glad to see my brothers, and I missed them. With them here, I knew we could come up with something that would work. I just needed to get past my own insecurities and start thinking logically.
“Where is Catarina?” Luciano asked.
“Upstairs, asleep. This trip hasn’t been easy on either of us.”
“Where’s your bike?” Shadow asked, looking around the parking lot.
“I sold it back in Reno for the black Dodge over there,” I whispered, pointing at my new truck parked close to where I stood.
No one said damn word.
I knew Shadow and Axel were probably shocked but seeing the sadness in Luciano’s eye damn near gutted me. He may not understand what a bike means to a biker, but he knew I loved that bike.
Not wanting to talk about it anymore, I said, “Come on. Might as well let Catarina know we have company on the trip.”
Turning, I didn’t bother to see if they followed.
I didn’t know how she would respond to them being here, especially Shadow. Luciano and Axel, well, they were family, but Shadow wasn’t. He was a good kid and extremely good at doing whatever he did. I tried not to think of the many times he was called upon by Reaper to extract information. Part of me believed that Shadow had a serious sadistic nature and craved the pain he inflicted on people. Yet, seeing him now, he looked just like any other young man, and he just wanted to be helpful.
I got that.
I really did.
Since joining the Golden Skulls, there were many times that I, too, wanted to be helpful to the point I would even volunteer for shit.
I still didn’t see how Luciano could help other than get in the way of whatever we decided to do. I loved my cousin, both of them, and I didn’t want to see them hurt, but my need for my son overrode every feeling I had. I needed to get Colin back, and if I had to use my family to do that, then so be it.
Walking into our room, I said, looking back at the three men behind me, “Cat, we’ve got company.” However, when I turned and found Catarina crying as she sat before the computer shaking, everything in me went on alert.
Something was wrong.
Rushing to her, I knelt before her. “What is it, baby?”
She said nothing as she just stared at the computer screen.
Looking at it, I was having a hard time comprehending what I was seeing. Several people were moving in and out of Colin’s room. Our son was crying, sitting on his bed as a woman came into view, quickly picking him up. Another man followed, carrying bags.
They were running.
“Fuck!” I roared, grabbing the computer and throwing it across the room. “They fucking know we’re coming.”
“Shit,” Axel said, taking a seat next to Catarina.
“Giorgio?” she sniffed, looking at him. “You got bigger.”
Axel smiled. “I’ve missed you, Cat.”
