I didn’t know what to do.
I knew she wasn’t trying to be complicated.
There wasn’t a mean bone in her body.
I just wanted her to talk to me. To anyone.
I tried talking with Luciano, and even he tried talking to her, but nothing worked. I wanted so much to hold her, to tell her that everything was going to be okay. That I didn’t care. I wanted to tell her that I loved her so much and nothing would change that, but she couldn’t even look at me.
My whole life, I dreamed of the day I could openly love Catarina. She was my entire life, and I wanted nothing but her, and yet now that her secret was out, I felt as if she was slipping away from me.
I knew I wouldn’t make it if she left. Not after everything I learned. I just wanted her to talk to me. To let me in. I wanted to help her.
Sitting at the bar in the main room, I was nursing a beer when Phantom came to sit next to me. She didn’t say anything as she leaned across the bar, grabbing a beer for herself.
Phantom was like that. She really didn’t have to say anything. Just knowing she was there for me was enough, though I knew deep down she really wanted to talk.
“Go ahead,” I said before taking a swig of my beer. “Say what you want.”
“Just got word that Bullseye’s awake.”
Now that was something I wasn’t expecting to hear.
Looking at her, I said nothing as she downed half her beer.
“But Reaper is in Italy.”
“He was. Jessica called him and told him the doctors were bringing him out of his coma. He made it just in time for the fireworks.”
“So, he knows.”
“Yep,” she nodded, taking another swig. “Yes, he does.”
“What is Reaper going to do?”
“There’s nothing he can do. He promised Bullseye that he would keep Kitty safe.”
“Any word on Savage?”
“Yeah, Reaper found him in a dive bar about a block away from the hospital. He got him cleaned up and put him on a plane. Ghost and Vicious are at the airport waiting for him.”
“What aren’t you saying, Phantom?”
She turned and faced me, and for the first time since knowing her, I saw fear in her eyes. “He’s gone. Reaper went back to the hospital to talk to him, and he was gone. No one knows where he’s at.”
“He just had heart surgery. He can’t just disappear.”
“Well, he did.”
“Shit,” I muttered.
“There’s more,” she said, gaining my attention again. I waited patiently for her to gather her thoughts, and when she spoke, a trickle of unease filled my veins. “He left his cut on the bed. He drew a big bullseye on the back, right over the Golden Skull.”
We all knew that was a possibility.
Dylan wasn’t like the rest of us. He was all about his wife and kid. They were his world, just like Catarina was to me. Sighing, I looked at the large mirror on the wall and knew what Bullseye was thinking.
If anything happened to Catarina. I would want revenge too. I would hunt down everyone I believe had a hand in her death. Though my woman was still alive, I still wanted revenge for what happened to her. I knew, no matter how long it took me, I would find every one of those fuckers who hurt her and kill them with my bare hands.
