“I’m not a member.”
“No, you’re not, and thank fuck for that. But you are my brother’s ol’Lady and the mother to my niece. Making you mine whether you like it or not. Now, where the fuck are you going?”
“Got a hot date. Thought since my old man was laid up, I’d go play the field for a bit.”
And just like that, Reaper’s hand shot out as his fingers tightened around my throat. I should have known better not to push the man, but I was past my limit.
My give-a-fucks were gone.
I didn’t care anymore.
“Reaper!” Several of the brothers shouted as I tried to gasp for air. I knew I was going to die soon, just didn’t think it would be today. Trying my damndest to remove his hand, I could feel the adrenaline rising within me. Too bad it wasn’t going to stop him from suffocating me. Then as quick as it started, it ended as I was able to take a deep breath. Coughing, I bent over, taking air into my lungs as several brothers pulled Reaper away from me. The one brother I wanted to see wasn’t there. Looking up, I tried to find him. When I couldn’t, I turned to Reaper, who was being held back by Massacre, Viper, and Ghost. “Where the fuck is my brother?”
“You mean the man you sent to kill my mother!” Reaper roared as he tried to break free from the hold the men had on him.
“What did you do?” I said, walking up to him, scared out of my mind. Reaper was gone. I could see death in his eyes. He wanted blood, and nothing was going to stop him from getting it. I probably deserved whatever he was going to do to me, but at that moment, he could fucking wait. My death would have to come later. I wanted to know where Lucas was, and I wasn’t leaving until I knew.
“He was put in the shed, Kitty,” Hammer said, coming to stand behind me. Looking over my shoulder, I looked at the man who had been my friend since I was eight years old. Turning back to Reaper, I swung my fist to hit him again, only Ghost stopped me.
“Not this time, Kitty,” Ghost said, holding me tightly to him. “Now, be a good girl and tell Reaper what he needs to know, and nothing will happen to Savage.”
“You mother fucker! Do you realize what you’ve done? She could be gone by now.”
“What is going on, Kitty?” Ghost asked again, his arms tightening around me. “I won’t ask again.”
“You want to know what’s going on? Fine! It’s all because of her. She is the mastermind. You keep thinking this club is fucked up because of William. But it’s not. Yes, he was a dick, but he never saw the writing on the wall. None of you did. All you see is pussy. Never once did you think that pussy would be your downfall. Everything that’s happened in this fucked up club is because she designed it. She orchestrated it. She enacted it. She made it happen. And you fuckers fell for it. Every fucking bit of it!”
“What are you talking about?” Massacre asked, releasing Reaper, who was still pissed. Looking at the man I loved like a brother, I shouted, “You moron. Why didn’t you talk to your mother like I said? If you had, all of this could have been avoided. Now, she’s in the wind, and God knows what is coming. Do you think this war you’re in is about cleaning up the club? It’s not. It has nothing to do with the FBI, Homeland, anyone. It has to do with her! She’s been playing all of you. This is nothing but a power grab, and you’re letting that bitch win!”
“Kitty,” Reaper growled. “Speak English.”
“Your fucking mother is not who you think she is. Her real name is Caroline Agatha Dougal, born in Tennessee to Colin and Joanne Dougal.”
“Okay?”
“Her brother is James Dougal.”
“So.”
“He also goes by Vain, you idiot! The President of the Black Vultures! Does that ring a fucking bell? She is a plant. She’s been feeding the Vultures information on the Golden Skulls for years. She facilitated the deal with Diablo.”
Ghost released me, allowing me to walk closer to Reaper. I could tell he was working everything out in that thick skull of his. God, men, could be so fucking slow sometimes. Throw pussy at them, and their brains turned to mush. So, I wasn’t surprised when Reaper asked, “How?”
“She’s been fucking Diablo for years, Max. Even while she was still with your dad. The deal with the government, drugs, weapons, trafficking, it was all her brainchild. She wants to bring the club to its knees. She wants to watch the club bleed.”
“Why?”
Shaking my head, I refused to say anything more. I’d already said enough. Reaper was many things, and he could handle anything, but not this. I had already told him too much, and I knew he would go on a rampage as soon as I was cut loose. Some things never changed. The fact of the matter was, Reaper wasn’t thinking clearly at the moment. I knew he wanted to get to his mother. I would too, but not for what he wanted to do. Nope, I wanted to beat the shit out of the bitch, not talk to her and try to make things right.
I knew Reaper loved his mother. Everyone could see it. If I told him everything, he’d go to her half-cocked and never forgive himself. He needed to keep a clear head and think logically because when the whole truth came out, whatever decision he made, he needed to be able to live with it.
“Massacre, get Kitty back to the compound. Ghost call Savage and tell him to go pick up my mother.”
“Wait a minute,” I said, butting in. “You said he was in the shed. You lied to me!”
“You’re not the only one who’s good at keeping secrets, Kitty,” Reaper grinned as he walked away. “Have her car towed Massacre. I don’t want my Vault making a run for it. Get her ass back to the clubhouse and secure her. I’m not done with her yet!”
“You can’t keep me prisoner, asshole!”
