“What?” Massacre gasped.
“Where?” Chains asked.
“Are you sure?” Savage questioned as all three brothers came to stand beside me and looked in their scopes. Every brother knew I had been searching for Layla for three years now. There wasn’t a day that went by that I didn’t think about her. I scoured the net for any inking of proof. I knew she was out there, waiting for me to find her. I caught a glimpse of her when we were in Louisiana, rescuing Remi. I almost had her, too, until the fucker who took her got away.
That was a bad day for me.
But I never gave up.
I couldn’t.
I just never thought she’d drop into my lap like this. It was bad enough we had Ari to recuse, but now Layla. What the fuck was going on here? Both women were nowhere remotely close to each other. There was no way neither of them knew each other. Yet, both were here, on opposite sides of the fucking town. I was only one man, with the three amigos who couldn’t tie a fucking shoe correctly.
Yeah, these fuckers were bad luck, for sure!
Stepping back, this assignment just went from bad to holy fucking shit. I couldn’t leave either of them behind. I just couldn’t, and I refused to let Jekyll, Darden, or Malachi live. This was literally the biggest cluster fuck of my life. I was damned if I did and damned if I didn’t.
“Fuck, this is bad,” Massacre stated the obvious.
“We need help,” Savage added. “We can’t do this alone. There’s not enough of us.”
“Call it in, man,” Chains agreed. “We need help.”
“I know,” I said as my phone started ringing. Reaching for it, I saw that Reaper was calling. Connecting the call, we all listened as Reaper was already barking orders. “I don’t give a flying fuck, Healer! Go wake his ass up right now. I don’t care if you have to drag him kicking and screaming. I want his ass in church in five mother fucking minutes or so help me, God, I will start reaping souls! The four of you need to get on the fucking road, now. I don’t give a shit. Bring everything. We are not leaving anyone behind. Phantom! Where the fuck is Phantom?”
“Right behind you, asshole.”
“Fuck,” he gasped. “Don’t sneak up on me like that, woman!”
“Whatever. We got another problem,” we all heard Phantom say.
“What now?”
“Bullseye just sent me more pics. It’s Layla.”
“FUCK!” Reaper roared so loudly that birds took flight from our surrounding area. Yeah, bossman was on a rampage. “Bullseye, you there?”
“Yeah.”
“How do you want to handle this?”
“I can’t be in two places at once, man. I can’t save them both. We need help. Another four-man team.”
“They are already on the way. Where are you?”
“He’s on a rooftop just south of Salem, Oregon, in a town called Salvation,” Phantom stated, then added. “Population 113.”
“I don’t give a fuck about that, woman!”
“Don’t yell at me, asshole. I’m only doing my job!”
“If you weren’t a woman,” Reaper growled.
“You’d what? You are not big enough to take me down, asshole. As I said before, I accepted your colors. I wasn’t going to take any of your shit. Now apologize.”
“Fine, sorry,” Reaper sighed. “Player, Chaos, Ink, and Chisel just left and are headed your way Bullseye. I will follow within the next hour with Ghost if Healer can get his ass up.”
“I’m going too.”
