He looked at her like she was a feast laid out before a starving man. And that was how it felt. Sunlight poured through the wall of windows and made her skin seem to glow. Ethan kept his gaze locked on her as he stripped his own clothes off and tossed them aside.
She curled her fingers around the edge of the desk, glanced back over her shoulder at him and parted her thighs. Then she whispered, “I’m ready, Ethan. I mean, really ready.”
So was he. Ethan filled his gaze with her. Her bare butt was beautiful and waiting for him. He rubbed her behind hard, squeezing her flesh until she moaned and twisted her hips in response. She threw him a hot look and muttered, “Ethan, now.”
“Now,” he agreed, and pushed his body home. In one long stroke, he was buried deep inside her heat. Her body moved and rocked to accommodate him and Ethan groaned at the satisfaction rippling through him.
He lost himself in the rush of finally joining with her. Of feeling her take him in. Her hips moved as her breath crashed in and out of her lungs. He couldn’t stop looking at her. Looking at them, together.
Heart racing, Ethan felt her response, deep inside as her muscles contracted around him. Her climax hit hard and Sadie bit down on her lip again to keep from crying out. But he’d seen her reaction. Knew what they were doing to each other, and a moment later, Ethan gritted his teeth to muffle the sounds of his own surrender as he gave himself up to her.
A few minutes—or hours—later, when his heartbeat stopped thundering in his ears, Ethan was stunned at what they’d just done. Hell, he’d never had sex in his office before. Five minutes alone with Sadie and that record was smashed. Hell, he didn’t know how he’d ever get any work done in here again. He would forever be seeing her stretched across his desk, deliciously naked.
Shaking his head, he carefully stepped back from Sadie, then helped her up. She moaned a little as she stood, and Ethan winced. “Damn it, Sadie, did I hurt you?”
She threw those blond curls out of her eyes and looked up at him with a wide grin. “Are you kidding? I feel fantastic!”
Just like that, he wanted her again. How had he not guessed all these years what kind of woman Sadie Matthews was? He’d thought of her as efficient and she was. But she was so much more, too.
This was going to be trouble.
She scrambled to get back into her clothes, so Ethan did the same. Once they were dressed, though, he took hold of her shoulders. “That was crazy.”
“I know,” she said, still giving him that wide smile. “Honestly, it was crazy and amazing.”
He scrubbed one hand across the back of his neck and watched her. “That talk we were supposed to have? I think it’s time we had it.”
“Okay.” She stared up into his eyes and Ethan’s mind went blank for a long second or two. Hell, he’d completely lost focus. Another first.
All he could think about was what had just happened between them and how badly he wanted to do it again.
“You start,” she said, and walked around him. She squatted down to pick up the scattered papers and pens he’d pushed off his desk.
Irritated somehow, Ethan snapped, “You don’t have to do that.”
She glanced up at him. “I do still work here, Ethan. Relax.”
His brain was racing and she was telling him to relax. Not going to happen. When she’d gathered everything, he reached down for her arm and helped her up. She set it all down on the desk, then gave the wood a soft pat.
“I’m going to have real affection for this desk from now on.”
He didn’t know what to make of her. They’d worked together closely for five years and Ethan felt like he didn’t know her at all. She wasn’t horrified or regretful or even embarrassed. She reveled in what had happened between them and Ethan envied that. Because he wasn’t at all sure they hadn’t made a huge mistake. He really hated this uncertain feeling. Ethan always knew what to do, what to say, in any given situation. This off-balance sensation was unsettling.
“You’re still worried and you don’t have to be,” she said softly. Walking up to him, she laid one hand on his chest and looked up into his eyes. “What happened here is because we both wanted it to happen. You don’t owe me anything and I’m not asking for anything, so you can get that slightly panicked look off your face.”
