Gwyn’s eyes widened. “Tell us!”

I giggled, feeling my face warm. “I told one of them that I was ready for more, and . . .” I trailed off, leaving them dying for more.

“What?” CeeCee slammed her palm on the table.

“And we went further than I have before.” That’s all they were going to get.

“And you liked it?” Gwyn was beaming.

I nodded.

“And you were okay after?” CeeCee asked. “No regrets?”

“Nope.” I put my fingers to my lips, unable to control my smile.

“So just one time? With one of them?” Gwyn eyed me.

“Yeah.”

She leaned back. “How? I wouldn’t be able to keep my hands off them.”

“It’s getting harder,” I admitted. “I know this isn’t right, but it feels like now I have to make things even. Like make sure everyone’s at the same point.”

CeeCee nodded slowly. “I can see that, but you have to be patient and do what’s right for you.”

Gwyn didn’t say anything, which was unusual. I watched her, waiting for her to crack.

“Fine. I’ll say it.” She focused on me. “We aren’t normal. You aren’t normal. Your relationships aren’t normal. You don’t need to hold on to what traditional society thinks because we’re not really a part of it. Our world is crazy and unpredictable, and you never know what’s coming next, so enjoy what you have now.”

A warning floated under the surface of her words. “Do you know something?”

Her shoulders dropped. “Just more of the same. There’s a strong chance things are going to change soon. I don’t know what will happen, but if you guys get separated, I don’t want you regretting not taking advantage of the time you have now.”

“Fear of missing out isn’t a reason to rush into anything you’re not ready for,” CeeCee countered.

The idea of being separated was enough to make my heart pound. That couldn’t happen. Our parents would find a different solution if that’s what it came down to. We’d go into hiding or whatever the Society wanted, but I wouldn’t leave them.

“Hey, don’t freak out. We don’t know what’s happening yet.” CeeCee reached out and put her hand on my wrist.

“She’s right. I didn’t mean to upset you. I’m just saying what I would do.” Gwyn smiled sadly. “Let’s focus on the positive. You got all hot and heavy with,” she narrowed her eyes, “Noah.”

I laughed. “I’m not telling you guys who or what.”

CeeCee pouted. “Come on! We’re dying over here.”

I shook my head. “No way.”

“Fine.” Gwyn made a face. “Do the other guys know something happened?”

“No.” I widened my eyes. “We’re keeping each relationship separate, and I’m not sure how they would feel about knowing.”

“Jealous,” CeeCee said.

“Fury,” Gwyn agreed.

“Good idea, keeping it all separate.” CeeCee grinned. “And if you ever need to offload your emotions or talk to someone about what’s going on, call us. We’re more than willing to listen to what you can’t tell the guys.”

Gwyn nodded excitedly. “Yes, please.”
