I thought he was going to lean in and try to kiss me, washing away this sick feeling of unworthiness in the pit of my stomach I couldn’t erase, but he didn’t. Snyder pulled away, huffing out in frustration as he quickly got up from my bed.
“Where are you going?” I questioned in desperation, not wanting to sit in a puddle of my own pity and tears.
He paused at the door, and there was no mistaking the longing and need in his eyes. “The temptation to claim you is slowly killing me inside, woman. I’m a gentleman, it’s true, and I’m fucking loyal as hell to my Prez, but underneath all that debonair loyalty, is a filthy man whose thoughts are riddled with impure fantasies about the only woman I’ll never be able to claim… the Prez’s Ol’ Lady”
In that moment, I was ready to offer myself to him on a silver platter, desperate to wash away the hurt and betrayal that was withering its way through my bones.
“Please don’t go,” I begged.
His face fell as turmoil swept over him. “It’s better for both of us this way, Shasta.”
“But why?”
“Because if I stand here one second longer, I’m going to march over to that bed and fuck you senseless. Just by the girth of my cock, and the endless seed I’d empty into that sweet pussy, you’d know exactly how fucking crazy you make both of my heads. And that, my sweet little temptation, is why I need to leave. You’re a fucking death sentence on two legs.”
Chapter Four
Snyder
The second I turned the corner to go down the other hall, I ran smack dab into a wall of chest. Massive hands wrapped around my throat, throwing me against the fake brown wood paneling plastered all over the walls. My head hit with a thud, and I immediately started pushing back.
“What the fuck, Sabbath?”
“What the fuck were you doing in my room?” he seethed, as the veins on his neck bulged with hostility.
“Doing what you fucking asked me to. Keeping her busy.”
His grip tightened. The strength of his fingers dug into my throat, gripping my esophagus around my Adam’s apple.
“I told you to keep her distracted. Not to fuck her. Did you touch her, Snyder? Did you touch what’s fucking mine?”
I gagged, coughing as I struggled to breathe. My fingers clutched his hand, desperate to push him away.
“No,” I choked out. “She—she saw you and R—Rose.”
His grip loosened, and his eyes widened in fear. “What the hell did she see?”
He was still choking me, so between my gasps for breath, I managed to croak out. “E—everything.”
His hand slowly dropped, then pounded the wall next to me. “FUCK!” he raged. Everything in his body sagged with defeat, and he barely lifted his eyes up to look at me.
“How bad is she?”
Clutching my throat, I glared at him. “Why do you even care? You treat her like dog shit ninety-five percent of the time.”
That soft gaze hardened into something more menacing, and I could feel it overpowering me. In one swift movement, he had his arm against my throat again, but this time he was holding a dagger, one whose blade was slicing through my flesh.
“Listen up, Snyder. You may be my fucking VP, and you may be able to soften my girl when she’s fucking upset, but I think you’re forgetting that I own every piece of that bitch. From her pretty little head down to her sweet cherry between her legs, it’s all fucking mine. She’s my fucking Ol’ Lady, I patched her in as such, and if I find out that you, or anyone else in this damn club, touches her or even eye fucks her, I’ll fucking end your goddamn pathetic lives. Ya got me?”
“Yessss,” I hissed out, the blade digging even more into my neck.
“Say it like you fucking mean it, Snyder, because right now, I’m getting some fucking weird vibes from you, and I wouldn’t think twice about carving out your jugular if you even think about crossing me. Shasta is my property, and I don’t want your filthy hands anywhere near her.”
“Then stop fucking cheating on her, asshole! That woman deserves to be treated like the queen she is, not some fucking throw away you tap when you have nothing better to do.”
He reluctantly released his hold and took a step back.
“I’ll admit I do neglect her needs… but I’m about to fix that.”
