I want that to be true. I want to be able to look back on today and say it was the day that humans spoke up.
Not because they want to lock us back in the dark, but because they see that we are not so different from themselves.
Please, see us. Hear us. Don’t let the hope we have in you be given in vain.”
Reaper and Aria’s faces vanished from view but another cyborg who I knew well took their places.
“Hello, humans. My name is Brone. I desperately need your help. Not just because I want to live peacefully with you, but for a much more selfish reason. You see, the Global Allegiance has taken the human female I love from me. The hunted her down, destroyed my home, and then put a bullet in my head so that they could steal her away from me.
Her name is Nara. And she is the most beautiful female I have ever seen. She is smart and sassy and didn’t care about my size.”
Brone smiled, his cheeks darkening. “As you can see, I am not what you call small. But Nara didn’t care. She told me she loved me. It was the greatest moment of my life. Then the Global Allegiance took her, and I don’t know what they are doing to her, if they are hurting her, or if they have her locked away in the dark.
I told you my female is brilliant, right? Well, they want to use her to make new cyborgs. New batches that they can abuse and torment and lie about all to make a profit. My Nara refused. I am terrified of what they will do to her if they don’t get what they want.
Please help me find her. Help stop the Global Allegiance from doing to her what they did to us. What they want to do with the new cyborgs. Please, I am begging you. Bring the female I love back to me.”
The reporter popped back on screen.“A massive investigation has been launched into the cyborg’s allegations and evidence has been handed over by the cyborg called Reaper with proof of the crimes they are alleging the Global Allegiance has committed.
Stocks for the Global Allegiance continue to plummet as protests have erupted worldwide decrying the Global Allegiance’s supposed crimes. People everywhere have come out in support of the cyborgs and are demanding the government declare the cyborgs under protection until further notice.
Please stay tuned because up next, we bring you an exclusive interview with a former MechTech who claims that everything the cyborgs are saying is true.”
Nara
The plasma screen went dark as Roman’s hand tightened around my throat. “You must have helped them do this! Tell me how you did it!”
His fingers dug into the sides of my neck, cutting off my air. I gasped, tears spilling from my eyes as I frantically shook my head. Easing his fingers from my skin, he allowed me to suck in a shallow lungful of air.
“I…had…nothing to do with it,” I wheezed out, trying to suck in as much as air as he would allow.
Pushing me backward, my feet dragged along the plush carpet before my back was slammed against the wall.
“You think this little stunt will ruin me? Right now, the world might act like they give a shit about the cyborgs, but after some time passes, they will forget. They will come crawling back to the Global Allegiance, begging for shiny new technology that helps them escape from their boring and miserableexistence. And once the new cyborgs release, they will gobble them up as well because the only thing they care about is having a brand-new toy to play with.” He shoved me harder into the wall, his fingers once again curling even tighter around my neck.
Black dots danced in front of my eyes as I struggled to stay conscious. The right time is now. You need to fight!
Drawing my knee up, I slammed it directly between his legs, hitting the target of his balls dead on. His hand fell from my throat as he dropped to knees, letting out a howl.
I didn’t give him any time to recover. Another kick to his chest sent him backward to sprawl onto the floor. I wasted no time in pinning him to the floor by pressing my knees into his shoulders. My heels dug into his sides right above his hipbones, centering myself so he couldn’t attempt to roll my weight off.
He struggled underneath me, the promise of retribution dancing in his eyes. No matter which way he tried to twist, he couldn’t dislodge my hold.
He snarled. “Let me up, you fucking bitch.”
My hands clawed at the lapels of his stupid fancy suit as I met his eyes. “I wasn’t sure you had balls until I kicked them.”
Roman growled, pure hatred etched across his face.
“Your world is crumbling around you, Mr. Rothchild. And it turns out, I didn’t have to do a thing. The people who love me risked everything to tell the world the truth. You think that people will forget. But we won’t let them. Reaper. Myself. The whole fucking cyborg rebellion will make sure to replay your crimes on repeat until all the world remembers about the Global Allegiance is how happy they are that they are gone.”
I smiled at the monster pinned under me, no longer afraid. My throat ached, my words coming out with a rasp, but in my heart, I knew this was it. This man wouldn’t hurt another cyborg ever again.
