“Get a room,” Acer grumbled from the sidelines, causing Poe to break off the kiss as she giggled.
“We have a room,” I calmly informed Acer, enjoying the horrified gleam that sparked in his eyes with my words. He still deserved a little payback for tricking me and blocking me from getting to my female.
He hit the control panel, the light going from red to green and flung open the door. “Not mine, Science Model. Get out!”
“Gladly.” I scooped Poe up into my arms and marched out the door, happy to leave Acer’s quarters to take my female back to ours, where I didn’t plan to let her leave-at least not for a while.
Poe settled herself in my arms with a happy sigh. “Does this mean you’re not mad at me anymore?”
I halted my steps, looking down at her. “That depends.”
“On what?”
“What do I get if I say yes?”
She tapped a finger against her chin. “Forever with me as your female? And make up sex. Lots and lots of make up sex.”
I had never had make up intercourse before. I released a growl, my processors starting to spin wildly at the ways make up intercourse could be different from regular intercourse. “Forgiven,” I declared as I raced down the hallway at cyborg speed. The whole way, Poe laughed in my arms. The sound of her laughter confirmed that my life was now better than I ever dreamed possible.

Two weeks later...
“Idon’t want to go. Let’s turn around and go back to our quarters.” I halted in the hallway, my eyes pleading with Poe to turn around and go back.
Poe squeezed my hand. “You can do this, handsome. Everyone is waiting for us. They are holding the party in your honor.” She dragged me further down the hallway. “You can’t miss your own party, Dax.”
“I never asked for a party.” I think I might be doing what the humans call staling, but I couldn’t bring myself to truly believe the cyborg rebellion would ever throw me a party. I wassimplyDax. After the all the years of being the freak of the cyborg rebellion, it felt strange to finally be accepted. Not only accepted, but respected and apparently worthy of a party. A thank you party for all the things I had done for the rebellion over the years.
It had been Iris’s idea. Cyborgs don’t throw parties, but once Iris had suggested having one, the whole cyborg rebellion had gone a bit crazy with excitement. I had a theory that cyborgs didn’t participate in human celebrations because we had no need for them, but now I believe that we just never thought humans would ever allow us to join in.
Not only do I get to join in, I’m the guest of honor. Pure panic hit my circuits. I had no clue what to do. My social interaction had definitely improved, but I still struggled with social situations. Somehow, despite my brilliance, I always said or did the wrong thing. I couldn’t stand the thought that I would screw this up in some way. I had just made friends around here.
Granted, some of those friendships had been tested recently. It had taken a bit of time to forgive Acer and my mother for their part in giving my female the second dose behind my back. Once I had cooled down, I realized that they did what had to be done to save my female. I couldn’t hate them for that. I also wasn’t programmed to hold a grudge-that was Military Models. My programming was much more advanced. Maybe I did deserve this party after all. And I no longer had to face things like this all alone.
I ran a hand down the edges of my lab coat, making sure they were crisp and presentable before I smiled down at Poe. “I can face anything with you by my side.” I took a deep breath, “I’m ready. Let’s go.”

HAND IN HAND WE STROLLEDinto the common room and couldn’t help the tiny gasp of surprise at the turn out. Not that my cyborg didn’t deserve it. This party had been a long time coming in my opinion.
