“Wait for me.” Dusk calls as she hurries after me, but I am afraid that dad will start an argument and Fang will decide to leave. Leaning down I pick up my bag, opening the door as I rush outside. I hear dad saying something as I walk out but then all three men are turning their heads towards me as I hurry towards them.
“I’m ready!” I call trying to interrupt anything dad has to say.
“Dawn!” Dusk calls from behind me, but I ignore her as I hurry forward. “Dawn!” Dusk calls again in an urgent voice, I’m sure she’s worried I’m not going to say goodbye, but she shouldn’t worry because no matter what I will hug her before I leave.
“No, you’re not.” Dad says as he shakes his head at me.
“You agreed, so don’t make this difficult.” I mutter coming to a stop next to him. He grunts in anger bringing his hands up to his waist as he frowns down at me, a clear indication of his irritation with me.
Turning my head, I look at Fang to see a grin on his face, which has me frowning as I thought he would be angry at whatever dad was saying. Maybe he wasn’t being rude after all, and I should apologise. Looking at the man next to Fang I feel my breath being caught in my throat, he is even more handsome from close then he was from far.
“Dawn!” Dusk says in hesitation from behind me.
“What!” I mutter as I see the man’s lips quirk up in amusement.
“You…umm,” Dusk starts to say hesitantly which has me looking back over my shoulder with a raised brow. Dusk nods down at the ground which has me looking down only to feel my cheeks start to redden in embarrassment. “Forgot your shoes.”
“Darn” I mutter turning to take my shoes from her hands. I bend down slipping them on, hearing a growl behind me I snap up to look around. Hottie has taken a step closer to me and is standing as tense as a poker.
“Gunner?” Fang calls which has me finally knowing hottie’s name. “What the fuck brother?”
“Let’s grab the girl and leave.” His voice is deep, his whole body looking ready to snap. I hear Fang grunt in reply as he looks back at me.
“So, are you ready?” Fang asks looking at me.
“Before she goes anywhere, I need to know what your plans are, I’m not going to let her go to a motorcycle club no matter what.” I snap my head to my left where dad is standing, my hands fisting as I start to get angry. How dare he ruin this for me now.
“Dad, you promised.” I snap taking a step towards Fang only to have my father’s hand snap out and grab my upper arm. Before I can try and free myself Gunner is growling again and in the blink of an eye, I am being taken out of my fathers’ hands and placed behind a wide back. My heart is racing at the sudden occurrence.
“What the hell do you think you are doing?” Dad yells in anger as he takes a step towards Gunner. I brace myself for the fight that is about to breakout, but before I can interject Fang is jumping between both men, his arms outstretched, hand on each man’s chest as he holds them apart.
“Enough” Fang states, his arms straining with the strength it is taking him to hold them apart. “Sorry about Gunner, he just doesn’t take kindly to women being mistreated.” Fang says to dad
“He doesn’t have a say on what I do with my daughter,” Dad screams in anger as he glares at Gunner.
“Try me!” Gunner says in a deadly tone. Fang snaps his eyes towards Gunner, a scowl on his face.
“Shut up” Fang mutters, “get on the bike and go, I’ll meet you at the service station.”
“No” Gunner snaps, “I’ll take the woman in the SUV, you take the bike.” I see Fangs body vibrating with rage, but he finally nods.
“He’s not taking my daughter anywhere.” Dad snaps, but before anything else can be said, I hurry away from the men and into the vehicle. “Dawn!” I hear Dad calling but I ignore his screams.
Looking over at where Gunner is still standing by the men, I lift my hands in the air showing him I’m waiting. I see him lifting a brow, but then he is turning and making his way towards the SUV. Sliding into the driver’s seat he closes the door and starts the vehicle; I see Dad pushing Fang as he tries to make his way to me.
“I don’t want to rush you or anything, but I think we should leave.” I say urgently seeing Dad approach.
“Are you scared of him?” Gunner asks not moving a muscle, his voice has a deadly tone to it.
“Of my dad?” I ask just as dad bangs his fist on my window.
“Get out here right now Dawn.” He screams, to be honest he does make my knees shake when he is angry like that, but I don’t want to make Gunner any more upset.
“No, his bark is worse than his bite.” I raise my hand and wave at dad knowing that he is going to be livid at me. Gunner nods at my statement, completely ignoring my father’s rant as he leans forward and starts the vehicle. A minute later we are driving away and leaving Fang to appease the situation that we have left behind.
“I hope Fang is able to calm dad down, otherwise I will be summoned back home immediately.” I grumble and hear Gunner grunt in reply. “He isn’t always like that you know; he is just a little protective of us.” Looking over at Gunner I frown not sure if he’s listening to me or not, his expressionless face giving nothing away.
“Thank you for standing up for me back there,” I say, but once again the only reply I get is a grunt. “You don’t talk much, do you?” I ask, annoyed that he is ignoring me.
