“Dakota or Siena will fix you up as soon as we get home,” I promise her.
“Can we leave?” she asks as her eyes move towards the doorway where I know Frost is standing guard in case one of the Hades’ men appears out of the woodwork.
“You are safe now; we just need to finish this and then we can go.” I don’t want her to see the bodies of the five Hades men that will be in the front, but I’m also feeling reluctant to leave her right now after everything she has just gone through.
As the Wolverine MC enforcer, it’s my responsibility to make sure that the motherfuckers that thought they could attack us, pay. Now that my woman is safe, I will be able to concentrate on what needs to be done.
“How are the women?” King asks as he walks into the room.
“Good,” Hawk and I reply simultaneously.
“Skull and another of his two men aren’t here, but we got all the rest. They won’t be able to do shit, just the three of them,” King updates. “Cobalt has taken Gunner home before he wakes. We need to go before anyone else comes. Take the women, we are going to torch the place.”
I sigh. I’m relieved that I don’t have to leave Myst here for even a few minutes and can take her home now and make sure that she is fine. Pulling her up into my arms, I start making my way out of the room. Placing my hand on her head, I pull her face against my neck.
“Don’t look,” I order, knowing that her seeing dead bodies will more than likely give her nightmares for a while and I’m sure that everything that she has gone through this last week is horrific enough without adding dead bodies to the equation.
“You know, I can walk,” she murmurs against my neck as her arms slide around it, holding on tightly.
“I know, but at the moment I don’t want to let you go,” I confess, feeling a semblance of deep relief at having her close to me. I think it’s going to take me a while to feel at peace when I ride out again and leave my woman behind. “Are you okay to ride with me?” I want to make sure that I don’t cause her any more unnecessary pain.
“Yes, I’m fine,” she replies, her fingers sliding into the back of my hair, stroking gently, which has my body reacting at the most inappropriate time.
My mind, body, and soul are driving me to bond with my woman—to make her fully mine. If I had already bonded with Myst, I would have been able to find her anywhere, but because of her wound, I need to wait.
I just hope the wait doesn’t kill me!
